Installed Forge BPV. WOW!!!

Just installed my Forge BPV and what a difference it made over the stock. It's like a different car now. Before when running up hard through the gears I would get a hesitation between gears before the boost would come in and lay my head back. It was way too jerky. Now there is no hesitation and the car is very smooth with seamless boost when shifting. The car just seems so much faster now. That may not be the case but it seems so and the car is much more pleasant to drive. I'm using the blue spring, no shims, with stock air box and no ping. I'm going to install the Cobb in a few minutes but I wanted to see what the Forge BPV would do by itself. If I had installed them together I would probably have given the Cobb intake the credit for this improvement. I hope I'm as pleasantly suprised with the Cobb intake as well. I'll be back shortly to let you know. WOOOHOOO.

Glad to hear it! You'll probably need a shim with the new intake. Don't be surprised.

personal preference really. I couldnt tell much difference between just the spring, or w/ a shim

lol what a crazy thread title hahaha for just a BPV. i like. glad that you love the BPV. I'm diggin my turbosmart dual port as well but i think i need to switch it to full recirc in the future. hope all is well. the cobb is just as ridiculous dude if not wayyy more.

I am running the blue spring with 2 shims and it makes a world of difference. Also running the Mazdaspeed CAI.

I say this all the time and no one believes me. The stock valve is crap. Best bang for the buck mod I've done to date...

I was hitting 20-21psi boost for awhile. I noticed no difference in boost holding with the stock bpv vs the forge. I like the way the forge 'feels' more and how it reacts but I don't think its entirely true that the stock one leaks. Or some are just bad and mine happens to work fine.

Sorry it took so long to get back on the Cobb install. Again another WOW. I have to admit that the sound is a little too much but for the gains, I can tolerate it. I may need to add a shim, when I put the Cobb intake on it seems to be hesitating some again. Does this mean I need to add a shim for the Cobb or is the extra power playing into this. It does not seem as smooth with the Cobb and blue spring as it did with the Stock box and blue spring. I may leave it for a while with blue spring no shims.

You just made a major change to your intake path. From the technical articles posted elsewhere in this forum, ideally you should disconnect the battery and drive easy for a couple of days while the ecu relearns what a proper mix is. At the very least you need to give it a few days to learn before you decide if you like the change. As far as the valve is concerned, when I installed mine, I noticed that boost became more stable, but oddly enough, the vacuum got stronger under cruise conditions. This may be a sign that my stocker was leaking. From experimenting with the valve I am fairly confident that you will need to increase the pressure in the valve (add a shim, possibly two) after increasing your airflow so dramatically. Give the ecu a couple of days to learn then play with the shims.

Blue with two, stock never held boost well. Forge. Very different car. Will rev to redline. Solid product works well.
