It shouldn't come as a surprise that not everybody likes 4 cyl. cars, which is understandable. But to not even respect a car capabilities based on what's under the hood is absurd. This is a thread from my old GTO forum: http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=241783

The OP traded in this GTO to get a MS3 (I know it's a GTO board) because gas prices are getting to be to much. Seems that there's are a few guys over there that might be jumping ship. The thread delivers.

To each his own. Me, I'd swap my MS3 for a G8 GXP in a nanosecond if that sled was about a foot shorter and 500 lbs. lighter.

exactly...the weight of that car surprised me so much, and that's what keeps its numbers in such a bleh range for the engine it has. not to mention the "better" engine won't be available till next model year

its amazing some of the ignorance on the board.

but there were a couple guys that were open minded to the fact that there are other great engines in this world other than a damn LS. so i applaud them

That was an interesting read. Thanks for the link. There were a lot of board members there who posted in defense of the the MS3.

Used to be pretty active on that forum when I had my 05 GTO and my 07 TBSS. Made a lot of cool friends, but a strong majority of the group is pretty stuck on being closed-minded.

The ultimate reality is that, anyone who truely loves cars or calls themselves an enthusiast, has a certain appreciation for all cars, no matter how much the price tag or performance. And that common respect can be seen in certain forums.

Same here. I really enjoyed my 05 GTO but hated the constant problems (no i'm not exaggerating either). I figured this was my opportunity to get into another one when I got rid of my 07 TBSS and hopefully have a better experience this time around.

But I wasn't willing to take the risk of potentially making the same mistake twice, and gas prices were really starting to climb too. So I stuck to my guns and got the MS3. Haven't regretted it since.

I love the GTO.. Lots say there isn't a replacement for displacement of a v-8.. " yes there is my friend, its called TURBO!"

Exactly. You'll see people talk down to other's for car choices on ANY forum.

The SRT4 guys get crapped on here. Read the SRT4 forum and the MS3 gets the ol hot carl.

It comes down to people associating themselves with the car they drive. I don't. I'm swampass first, MS3 owner second. (dark)

You're all crazy if you think a "MS3 => GTO" thread here would have gone any different. I can see the "I would never buy a domestic" & "Pontiac sux" comments already. As with that thread though, most would be pretty understanding and complementary...

I don't think anyone is saying we're less judgemental. It's just remarkable how quick they jump down someones throat. I've seen nothing but fair play between NASIOC and us regarding STI's and MS3's, infact the respect is exchanged evenly and often.

For the record, I contributed positively to that thread since I am still a member. But those guys did the same thing to another fellow member who converted from a GTO to a Shelby GT500. Give me a break!

yea

those guys talking about the GTO being all the sh*t was just cocky

I mean come one, its got raw horsepower, but the thing is a boat....to act like its the fastest car out there and then not think that anything else can come close is just stupid

and then the comments of 'oh you just think its fast because you feel the turbo kick in'? seriously, do they realize that almost all the top cars out there (including almost all domestics that shoot for quick drag times) run some form of forced induction unless they are going for a strictly all-motor build?

its beyond the point of ignorance, bordering on stupidity almost

No, there is no replacement for displacement. Power comes from burning fuel. Burning fuel requires air. You can fit more air into a larger displacement motor, n/a or force fed, and can thus burn more fuel.

actually power comes from a mixture of fuel and air, not fuel

you can dump a shitload of fuel into your motor without much air and you will NOT get as much hp as if you dumped a shitload (discussing volume more than pressure, though pressure is a factor as well) of air at a good a/f ratio of around 12-14:1

displacement is a factor, but air is a more crucial aspect before displacement

i.e. rotorys that kick out 700+ hp from 1.3 liters of displacement (yes I know its a different motor, but the same concept of compressing air/gas is there)....from running larger turbos with a good tune
