Well, it must be luck, fate, or whatever you want to call it but, yea. Im finally posting it up 1 month later, at my ice hockey game, I tore my ankle apart. Fractured fibula in 4 places, and tore it ...dont know the medical terms for them. But, the funny thing is that the very same week, I ordered TONS of stuff from ken at pg. Well, he helped me out big with my choices, and the service there was UNREAL! but I wont be able to enjoy the parts now for atleast 3-5 months. The reason I waited this long to post it up, is because I just got the mri done tonight and got my words of wisdom from the doctor, ''yep, your gonna need surgury'' lol... ok how long doc? ''atleast 3-5 months MIN''...:(:( so... i just thought i would share it with all the fellow speederz.....anyone else have this happen?

Here is the video, taken from the cam at the rink, via my cell phone

ouch man....on a similar note we were playing a game of pick up soccer a few years ago and this kid slide tackled me, ran right into my ankle that was planted as I was taking a shot, and shattered the thing. Luckily, insurance took care of everything (tricare) as that got expensive quick.....vicodin was my friend. Good luck and here's hoping the doctor overestimated your recovery time.

sorry to hear about that man. the good news is that you'll keep the miles low on your car! :)

Did you tear any ligamants or tendons? Bones heal quick, but tendons and ligaments take some time. Plus if it is immobilized, you are going to atrophy. Does it need to be fixated (ie. ORIF, OREF), or is it just going to be casted? It sounds bad enough where you will need some sort of fixation. I am assuming the surgery is for this or to repair the damaged ligament(s) and/or tendon(s).
I think he is erroring on the high side. Is that 3-5 months until you are "normal", or until you can walk, or what? I'd say minimum 2 months, depends what all is torn. Let me know what is all going on if you can find out (ie. MRI report). Keep up with your rehab, if you smoke, quit, and be patient and it will be OK.

said something about an osmosis ligament and cynissiis tenden were torn...and said 3-5 months before able to run, sports etc. so driving prolly 2 months or so..

Oof! That just looks extremely painful! So sorry 'bout your injury and the fact that you can't even enjoy your 'Speed to cheer you up.

Healing vibes coming your way. :)

Do you get a handicap sign to hang from your car when you're a passenger?

Sorry about your ankle, that vid made me hurt.

Probably interosseus membrane, which is the membrane between the tibia and fibula in the lower leg. "Cynissiis tendon"? I have no clue what that is. What part of the ankle did you injure? Inside (medial), outside (lateral), top (dorsal), or back (posterior)? Obviously you broke the fibula which is lateral, but from the picture it looked the medial aspect of your ankle is bruised as well. There are a lot of major tendons that cross the ankle, but none sound (or are spelled) the way you described. The Achilles or calcaneal tendon is the largest posteriorly, the peroneal or fibular tendons cross laterally and the anterior tibial and toe extensor tendons cross medially and dorsally.

The major ligamants in the ankle are the deltoid and spring ligaments medially and the ATF, CF, and PTF ligs. (anterior talofibular, calcaneofibular, and posterior talofibular ligs.) dorsal, lateral, and posterior respectively.

Wow! Are you a Nurse or Doctor?

Wow! Are you a Nurse or Doctor?

Physical therapist at CMC (Concentra Medical Centers). It is occupational health, so if you've ever needed a drug screen or were injured on the job, you probably have heard of us. We are a national medical provider.

thanks for the kind words, you were great to work with. like i said, healing is the most important thing now. go easy on it and let yourself recover!
