I was over in the Kennesaw area yesterday heading to my mom's. As I was driving down the road the car in front slowed to turn left into a neighborhood, so I signaled and merged over into the right lane to find out there was no asphalt there. Road construction had cut out the asphalt but did not put the metal plates over it like the previous location. There were no barrels or any other warning.

I went back today and took pictures of the construction. It's hard to see it in the pictures, but the gray area is deepest in the center. I'd say about 3-4in. at the deepest point. I went through with both wheels.

I forgot to mention it punctured the oil pan and leaked out. Andrew (aMaff) was able to commandeer a trailer and tow vehicle (Porsche Cayenne S) and gave me a tow home.

good job a maff and i would contact the city about repairs to your car being as there was no warning of any kind

i called the local police and had a report made out. the officer seemed to be in a bad mood, or didn't like modified cars. He asked if the car was lowered, then was surprised when I said yes. I didn't realize GA had laws against it in regards to headlight height. He said he wouldn't cite me, even though he could.

Another bummer is that my insurance doesn't cover after market parts: oil pan, exhaust, suspension. So the conversation with the adjuster should be interesting.

It wasn't so much commandeering as it was requisitioning (hah)

One thing's for sure tho, we were towing in style!
You forgot the coolest part. We're pulling the car up the ramps to the trailer w/ ratchet straps to avoid running the motor (2 3000 lb straps), and the car gets hung up on the trailer @ 1 of the exhaust flanges. So what to do now? Only 1 thing to do: get in the truck and set it on 'special terrain mode' (AKA Loading the race car on the trailer mode). Suspension lifted about 4" and got us a better angle on the trailer, and the car slid on from there with no issues
As much as I don't like those things (Porsche + SUV = huh?), they come in useful every once in a while LOL

I won't disagree with you. But the one thing it's good for, it's VERY good for. Maybe I can get barry to make a label that says "Race Car Loading Setting" to put on it haha

Another fun suspension trick that car does is the adjustable damping. We were in this really nasty construction zone trailering down to the Dixie Tour, and the truck was bouncing all over the place. Brett goes "Watch this" and hits the 'Comfort' button. The thing settled right down. I checked the rear view mirror and the trailer was still bouncing all over the place, it was almost eerie

Be sure to get pics of the road + your car with a current newspaper beside it.
It's not necessary but it helps timestamp your photos.

I have several oem oil pans (including yours from your stock engine) if you need one to get things running again.

So we're thinking I have a mild concussion from the incident on Friday. Friday night I had a really bad headache and felt like I was going to throw up. Saturday, still had the headache and nausea and stiffness. Today, felt a little better, but my head still hurts alot. So, consensus says to call the doc tomorrow and see what the deal is. Luke thinks that since he saw that the impact was going to happen, he had time to brace for it.

Insurance adjustor is coming tomorrow to take a look at the car...

while there maybe a headlight ordinance it would be a "fix it" ticket. It is just another way for dickhead cops to harass you.

yeah he would have had to tell you that law before he could have cited you for it. my first car had a ricer muffler on it and i got pulled over for my exhaust being too loud. When i questioned him what the law was or if he had the equipment to measure it all i got was a stuttered response and a see ya drive safe
