Hello,

Im sure this is an extremely redundant question asked by most newcomers with there MazdaSpeed 3's but due circumstances I dont have a whole lot of time to skim the forums yet. Im currently deployed overseas at the moment. Anyhow I am sold on the MS3.

Questions i had:
I was interested in an aftermarket Intake... What has the best sound quality and hp/tq increases for the buck?

Also is a Blow-off valve worth it with the car mostly stock?

What other upgrades do you suggest that are practical / cost effective?

Thank you very much for your time, since you have probably answered this question a million times.

The cobb sf intake is probably one of the best bang for the bucks. Its priced at like 175 or so.
The next thing I would do, is get the Cobb Accessport once it comes out. Our car definitely needs some sort of tuning.

A blowoff valve definitely wouldnt be all that beneficial. BOV's are never good for a MAF car. A bypass valve may be somewhat useful though. There's a big debate on how much they really help. Some people have leaky stock valves, so replacing it helps quite a bit. Some people notice no difference.

How much power are you looking to have in this car? The intake should add around 15 whp and 20 wtq on a dynojet.

I have heard the Cobb intake sounds amazing. So that should be a good addition.

Im not looking to go too over-board since im also using the vehicle for a daily driver. Winters in Minnesota suck the life out of cars.

Yeah, thats what I said when I bought the car too...(lol)
Now look at me...I can't stop!!! (bang)

It all started with an intake... (lol2)

agreed. im not a fan of BOV on a mostly stock car. i think the forge BPV is probly the best solution to the leaky stock valve, plus you can get the black one that looks almost identical to the stock piece.

Also if youre looking to increase HP without going too over the top, you could look at upgraded intercooler or opening up the exhaust with a downpipe and cat back

Wow. Thank you for your service, Sir! And stay in touch with us. You will love the hot hatch if you want a performance wagon. A lot of potential, or just fine out the box. Have you ordered yours yet?
