Ok so im starting my build (2003 spicy mazdaspeed protege), mind you im not going crazy with it i just want to know what you guys think; and to see if perhaps im missing anything. The car will be tuned by UMS in the comming weeks for 8-10 (max) psi no more (there is no changing my mind on this). so let me know what you guys think and if im perhaps missing anything before it all gets going.

Unichip
Apex r1 2.5" stainless mid pipe w/ highflow cat
Custom phoenix turbo axel back w/ turn down
Protege Garage Upgraded Side mount
Samco Hotpipe replacement
Perrin SRI
Forge Dual Valve BOV
colder spark plugs
ATP wastegate actuator
Defi boost gauge

so here it is in its simplicity im only looking for 175-200 hp max as i would like to focus more on my wheel and suspension set up. i dont really plan on doing hard pipes at this time as i dont like the weapon R brand i feel its cheap and have been in talks with some turbo shops to make a custom set in the future. So any other suggestions would be cool. car already has updgraded clutch and synthetic fluids throughout.

Personally, I'd get a new SMIC, CAI, and maybe a new intake manifold before upping the boost.

At some point you'll likely crack your exhaust manifold, so replacing that might be of interest.

Just my 0.02

Edit: Have you looked in the sticky on what mods to do with a daily driver?

i do have a Perrin SRI and did Purchase the upgraded Side mount, its in my orignial post. as for exhauhst manifolds go...the only one that i really know of is the Thunder? is that another option or is that it?as far as intake manifold i have been told by a few people and tuners that they will not allow the Unichip to work correctly so i may hold off on that. yeah i have browsed that thread a bit, and there were good suggestions.

So... you're saying I should learn to read! LOL
Sorry about that!

As for the exhaust manifold. There was recently a run done by Steedspeed. I got one, and last I read there was one left... I don't know if it's been spoken for or not.

link? is this a reputable company as far as quality goes?

steedspeed, and rpm are making exhaust manifolds. I think there are very few manifolds from steedspeed left and rpm are pretty expensive. my stock manifold has held up do far. the side mout is the best option for the hp yu are trying to get

money isnt really an issue i just want reliability. who should i contact for the manifolds?

will be done in suspension phase. any input as far as motor goes?

Nope, looks good.

I wouldn't worry about the manifolds though, the Callaway that comes stock is fine at near stock boost levels, and for a mild build.

I'd go with a FMIC over the SMIC because I have tried both a HiBoost FMIC and a TurboHoses SMIC, and the FMIC is better, but they're different price ranges. (uhm) Can't think of anything engine wise.

I installed a AWR oil pan on my 'mild' build just to add a little peace of mind, but unless you do lot's of twisties it's not really too necessary.

yeah was thinking about oil pan as well for the suspension phase. i live in central phoenix az ( not sure if your familiar with the area) and to brag that you have turbo with a FMIC is almost suicide for your car and insurance if you know what i mean lol.

you could always leave the lower grill on and paint the IC black, if its that big a deal.

so my set up seems overall solid to everyone correct? no minor things im missing that perhaps im not thinking of?

sell the perrin warm air intake and get a cai. should help with the heatsoak.

well...lets just leave this subject alone im not sure about this forum but ive had about enough from other forums about the difference and what is better. ill keep the perrin.

i agree that you should consider FMIC... especially being in pheonix. the difference is amazing.

and again i agree with Knox -- don't worry about the exhaust mani. It's not guaranteed to crack like someone said, so if it ain't broke don't fix it, because it's fine for moderate boost levels, and you're not going to see much difference in power at only 8-10psi.

Intake mani... it would be cool to have. If i had the money i would replace mine, but i have also heard that the Unichips don't like anything but stock very much. so mod at your own risk.

Sounds like a very good setup. I would recommend engine mounts and possibly exhaust hangars, about all i can think of.
