Paint Chips AHHHHH

Hey all.... newbie (uhm). New England weather was "wicked" on my 100% stock Red MS3. I know they happen but I have some really nasty paint chips left over from winter. The rock salt they put down on the highways up here are the size of small boulders!

Initially I was furious because I've had cars with well over 100k with less chips but whatever .....

Two deep ones on my hood. Roof, A pillars, side drivers door, Rear passenger doors. I'm frustrated.

Any good fixes. I was going to get touch up paint? I've never had a car worth touching up so not sure of the outcome. Any suggestions? Is touch up paint like white out --- just an ugly cover up that never really looks the same again! LOL

Thanks!

Reading into some other p5 threads et others seems like its an on going issues:

"The reason why you are getting rock chips so easily is because they use these environmentally friendly paints that are very delicate. It's not only Mazda, it's all the car companies that are forced to use it."

Would I be out of line to say I gave the dealer an EAR Thrashing knowing damn well it wasn't there fault I was just so bs!!!!

sucks.

I almost cried when i saw water bottle sized dent on my driver's door.

Was anything missing from inside the car? I heard there have been issues with the lock mechanism popping open when a thief hits the door panel in the right spot.

nope, i thinking it is shopping cart but not sure. The other day, i got off work and saw 2 more dings near the back of the car. Im learning to coop with it, it hurts but that's alright.

ive just been trying to keep a nice thick coat of wax on there for an extra layer of protection. Mazda paint is incredibly thin, it was the same on my protege sad to say. You could go for a 3M clear bra, but taht doesnt protect anything but the hood

ya the paint shines nice but not durable at all. I looked into this "roadblock" thin urethane coat its expensive. Guy at work had it on his Z3 had an nasty ding. They wouldn't cover it because it was damaged from "impacts" so I figured screw that...

anyone use touch up?

I have less than 3k miles on my Black Mica MS3, and I also have rock chips on the sides of the car - 2 under the side view mirror. I have never seen paint this weak before!

thanks glad to be apart! I'm glad to know that I didn't get a car that came off the floor with some manf defect

So does anyone recommend the clear bra?
3M?
Ventureshield?
InvisibleMask?

I got a quote for $750 installed for the hood, front grill/bumper, lower bumper, mirrors and back bumper (for loading protection)
And he said he'd do it at the dealer right after I sign the papers...

I could get the parts for $350 and do it myself...

Your thoughts, anyone?

Edit: the quote was for ventureshield. (lifetime warranty against yellowing, cracking, peeling)
