After reading the blown engine thread it came to me that there is a lot of misinformation on this board. So, from now on i think we should post those false statements here when they are found so people can actually have a cliff notes type of thread to separate fact from myth.

The outline should look like this:

-the statement
-the reason why its a "misinformed statement"

***there is to be no public debating on any post in this thread! Keep the debates in the PM form and if any thing is to proven wrong the person who posted the misinformed statement will remove it from this list.

******While the thread idea was not intended to make anyone feel like an idiot, i could see how some may take it that way. So i changed the layout a bit to exclude poster name and the actual thread that it was posted under. Again my original thoughts on this is a cliff notes version of incorrect information so that people could easily see things that are incorrect without having to sift through pages and pages of threads and posts. the main focus is people who don't know a lot about cars(MS3 specifically) who run the risk of being influenced by anything they read.

Not going with a MS CAI either - I don't have 7k set aside for a new motor in the event hydrolock takes place.
-this is a misinformed statement because: its not just the MS CAI that increases your chance of hydrolock. Any CAI runs that risk. Submerge any intake in enough water, you will get hydrolock

After reading the blown engine thread it came to me that there is a lot of people that are very misinformed on this board, but yet they continue to make statements as if they really know what they are talking about. So, from now on i think we should post those statements here when they are found so people can actually have a cliff notes type of thread to separate fact from ignorance.

The outline should look like this:

-Poster of the original misinformed statement
-forum that statement was on
-the statement
-the reason why its a "misinformed statement"

...and who is the final arbiter of this? A well intentioned suggestion that is just a recipe for disaster. Do you really believe that if someone sees themself being publicly called out as an idiot that they will then respond via pm?
The best way to handle this is for the person who decides someone else is incorrect to send a pm to begin with. Convince the original poster that they were wrong and that individual can go back and correct their statement. This has happened to me, and believe me I appreciated the fact that I got a pm so I could go back and correct myself instead of someone starting a public debate.

Or just keep reading, sooner or later someone will point out that bad information was given out.

This statement was implied to all CAI's, the MS CAI was the CAI being discussed hence it was an example.

Are you okay?

...I just realized that I failed to follow my own advice. I should have sent this to the OP as a pm. IDIOT

i would personally like to be called out - if only to be the center of attention [as i so deperately need to be]!!

my posts all suck anyway :P

There is got to be a Mazda tech on the forums.
That person could be a good candidate to moderate a forum dedicated to do just that (separate fact from fiction)

I know many of you would say that the techs are not always correct and I do agree with that, but I radder hear it from a tech that some guy in a garage god knows were.

Just an idear :)
