Anyone have an OBDII reader? ...issue with ABS again.

you can come to my shop we have a genesis scan tool which can do pretty much anything! the downside is Im in NH...right outside of Portsmouth! Lemme know

any luck Chris?

codes are stored and codes can be thrown without lighting up the CEL

he's right, there are often multiple "latent" or "pending" codes that haven't decided to prompt a CEL, yet.

But i didn't know ABS would be independent. No ABS for me.

Thanks for the offer PiMpIn, I'll wait and see whether Mark's buddy can help me out.

Just got a deal on a set of RPM springs. They were the pre-production set which drops about 0.75" front and rear. The guy was selling them for $175 shipped so I saved myself about $75. They should arrive on Thursday so I will be able to get them on during the spring cleaning meet (if I can make it). Wouldn't be a meet @ marks if someone wasn't installing springs now would it.

he's got the proper scan tool, call him today and see if you can work something out...John Nelson - 1-508-583-0100, he's in brockton near the easton line...american care car center. good luck!

Nah, super busy at work. It'll probalby have to wait until we get back from D.C. I won't have time to stop by in the next few days.

Why do you say right rear and not one of the others? I already had one replaced at about 30K...couldn't tell you which one it was though.

I just had my car in the dealer yesterday to diagnose the ABS light. My tech told me it would be the right rear before he confirmed it with the code reader. He said they get "A LOT" of them with the P5 for some reason.

So if the part is $60 and I'm a lazy bastard. Paying the $100 deductable on my extended warranty is probably the best route. Unless this is a piece of cake install? Anyone done it themselves?

Sorry I didn't see this thread sooner. You still need code reader? I have one and live in Franklin. Will be home after 7pm this evening if you wanna read the CEL code. Shoot me an email if you'd like. -Lee

Thanks Lee, but I think we have determined a run-of-the-mill OBDII reader won't pull the ABS code.

Quick update...

Amanda dropped the car off Monday afternoon. After 30 minutes they determined there was a problem with the left rear ABS sensor. They put her in a brand new Mazda3 2.0L loaner for the night and had it ready the next afternoon. They had to pull apart the entire hub to get to the problem (glad I didn't try to do it myself). Extended warranty covered the repair so we only had to pay $100. They had the part in stock because this is a common issue (and that explains why my rear-right one failed around 30K). Hopefully we won't have another failure since the extended warranty is up pretty soon.

Everyone at the dealership was asking for me apparently. I guess I have a good rep going with them. They told her she was going to hate the loaner...sure enough she did. Amanda said "This thing sucks...it has no pickup, no power windows, and the interior is ugly, and I'm never going to own an automatic again in my life!" This coming from the girl who refused to drive my car before I bought the MS6.
