I'm posting up here since I will be headed to Washington DC this summer for an Internship near our Capitol building. I will be working in the Office of a Congressman for around 6 weeks. Planning on being there from at least May 19th-June 27th. Just want to see how the Mazda community is near this area if there is any. I will be staying pretty close to the capitol through a housing program. If there is anyone near by LMK!

LOL I consedered bringing it to make my life easier but I would have to run the stock exhaust since I don't want to attract any of the wrong people. But it's gonna stay in the garage at home actually. Thanks for the link i'll look into it more later this afternoon as im running late to class.

probeturbo? is the a forum member? Sweet the more the better, maybe we can all go out to eat as a group! I'm overly excited to do this internship and get out of Florida for some time.

Yup, he's a member. There was another member that worked over there too. Haven't seen his car over there recently though.

HOLLY CRAP!I just got a call from where I want to be housed and they are charging me $2220 for the housing and its for only 6 weeks! The worst part is I have to share a room in a 3 story house that will have a total of 12 people. There are making a butt load of money IMO. Any thoughts?!

That's about right... DC isn't cheap. Heck I live on the PA line and commute- and it's still really expensive!

Really...damn damn. I heard it's expensive but sounds really bad and I live in Florida! Location location location! The place would be on capitol hill as well. Maybe that's why.(doh)

Hell, you can find a studio apartment for less than that. But I doubt you'd be able to find someone willing to rent out for only 6 weeks.

Try craigslist. A friend of mine found a job on craigslist to housesit for a couple while they were away for 2 months. She just stayed at the house and had no rent expenses.

Ya, DC is very expensive. You could find a place in MD and take the metro in to DC. We have interns that come every summer to work at my job, and HR gets together a list of places for rent for interns in the area. One person I know that worked here last year had a place near the Greenbelt station for $750/month. I can see if I can get ahold of the list if you'd like.

from that map you showed me... you look like you are right in the middle of things downtown.. You are paying for your location. :)

So this is where I will be staying. I guess Lisa and the rest of you have a point. But I think it's not so bad. Ill be saving some bus/metro money by walking. :-)

awesome! Def will get one of those. I assume it's like the New York metro system cards. Flimsy little cards that you can reload when needed? Any advantage over buying online? So you get $25 pre-loaded while buying at station is $10 and you get $5. Odd I think but I guess it works.

the smart card is actually a nice plastic (hard) card.. otherwise you'd use paper ones.. I dont know of any advantages of buying online..

getting really excited as the time gets nearer. Will most likely leave about two weeks prior to having to start the internship so I will try to do as many fun things and meet as many people to plan things to do for weekends and what not. I am not the type to sit at home, when I go somewhere I try to see it all. Will def be trying to hit up PennState to visit a buddy.

Hmm too bad you are coming up on the 19th, Carlisle is the weekend before that.

Good news then...JUST got my flight info. Arrive May 5th 10:33 AM! To Baltimore International. I guess i'm going to this Carlisle show.

ps-if I have a ride or find my way via metro and the two things located below my waist we call legs.
