What have you done to your P5 today?

I would also suggest getting some zipties to use on either side of each hanger to fine tune the placement of the exhaust tip. Don't want it too close to the bumper!

I've got a hose clamp on the rear hanger at the moment. lol. Thanks for the pointers!!

You will like em, make sure you got WD-40..and word of advice, put the hangers on the mid-pipe first, by far the most difficult mod to date to myself lol

Do you think it would be easier if I were to unbolt the midpipe? Then do those hangers and hten move to the rear?

painted stockers on

Off went the snows and steelies... on went the painted stockers ( sort of a gun metal BMW color ). Glad to have them back on...

I did the rear first when I installed mine, and didn't have to unbolt anything...just make sure you can get in a good position to really force those hangers off/on. I suggest going to the gym for some upper body workouts a week or two in advance :D

I'm at the gym every few days anyway, more so since you saw me last jefferey. lol

Anyways, got all of em on. I got down under the car and turns out the guys that put my exhaust on didn't attach the pass. side exhaust hanger at the cat. IT WAS A BEAST!! I had to use the jack to lift the cat to get it to fit, but, I think I realize why now. I've got a constant buzzing. So, when I get back home, i gotta put it back up on the jacks and try to bend down the brackets up front. The bushings weren't all that hard to put on, as long as you force them on at an angle. I've got pics of the hose clamp holding my old hangers in place, and, pics of the new zipties holding it in place now. I'll post em up come Monday

Hopefully I have some gauge rings and a mazda 6 wiper waiting in the mail!!!

I got my MSP valve cover w/the studs for the plastic cover sanded down... painted pic's will follow soon...

Got a question... when replacing the P5 cover for the MSP one... do I need to buy new gaskets or is the rubber one in place good enough... and also... please confirm that there is no difference between both valve covers other than the studs for the plastic cover.

Thanks

drove her to the meet in Chicago today. It was sweet, pics to follow. It was nice to meet some of the guys from the forum for the first time and finally put a face with the name.

so i clean the IAC and the EGR

put everything back on, start it up, and pulled the oil dipstick to check the oil.

it read below the L. so i freak out cuz i just had the oil changed about 700 miles ago or so. i figure, well maybe its reading low because its on the driveway.

so i pull it in to the garage to the front part of the car is more level.

pull the dipstick again, and this time its reading above the L line. i turn the car off. and check the oil again, and its sitting at halfway.

what gives? does the engine need to be at a certain temp to check the oil? is it a big deal that it read L after pulling the dipstick right after starting it up?

you never check engine oil with it running and on a level surface

what have i done to my p5 today? i just took some more of the motor apart to take it out!! gotta replace it. the whole bottom end went out and now im trying to find a mazdaspeed protege engine to replace it with. ive talked to a powertrain expert and he seems to think and according to his records the motor should bolt right in. matches the p5 tranny (minus the lsd unfortunately) but atleast it would be faster!!!

DROVE HER!!!! w00t!

I haven't driven any car in about 3 weeks. Damn it's good to be home. And it was even better to have the protege waiting there patiently for me :D
