I cannot believe they charge $275 for that though. I hope someone comes out with that for ~$100-150 or I might just fab one up myself.

Are there any clearance issues at all with the 3'' piping?

Guys thinking of making your own pipe.
You will not be able to use a piece of 3" pipe as is. You will have to some way flatten it out to fit betwen the motor and battery box location. Heck, you'll have to flatten it out to fit the entire length of the area the inlet pipe is in. Mazda for some reason didn't leave ANY room in this area were the inlet pipe has to go. The ATP pipe BARELY fits. It does hit a few things and guys runnig the ATP pipe I suggest you pad those areas. My ATP pipe hits 2 spots. So I epoxy'd rubber from a heater hose on those 2 spots on the pipe. I then wrapped the entire pipe in black header wrap. I also plugged the top breather hole because I came up with my own idea using a Marine through hull fitting plumbed into the 45* coupler for the breather on top. I then tapped that plug and made a bracket to secure the ATP pipe in the same location that the stock inlet pipe gets secured to the motor on that little bracket. I keep saying I'll make a thread and post PICs but.......I'll do all that whenI am 100% done and get a before and after dyno & PICs. I am waiting on warmer weather for Dyno time though and the few CAI intake kits I am waiting on. The ATP pipe can be installed as is the way you get it from them though. I just like to tinker with stuff.

Might have to use a vise to make it more oval...

I just priced the t-bolt clamps and silicone that would be required and it only came to about $60 here: http://www.vsracing.net/catalog/adv...=silicone&image_x=0&image_y=0&sort=2a&page=11

I have 2.5'' and 3'' exhaust pipe in my garage.

It would probably take another $10-20 of various fittings and hoses to make it work.

Tempting...I am just lazy and wish someone offered a reasonably priced option.

Im eventually gonna get around to doing this. Been very busy. Super easy design though. I think Im just gonna make it outa 2.5 pipe vs. 3inch. That way you dont have to crush it and will be close to the same size all the way through. Im only gonna need one nipple for the breather tube or I could just run a breather filter and no tube to intake. If I decide to run recirc., Ill just add another nipple. Seems like a few hours of fabbing but it would be fun.

I'm making one out of 2.75" aluminum tubing. Not sure where to get a weldable nipple for the BPV and wastegate selenoid line. Any suggestions?
 
i'm in dallas until tonight with the motor and trans in the garage. I'm cleaning it all up and what not, but i do have all of the parts that I ordered sitting back in oklahoma, to make my inlet pipe for the new turbo. Its alll aluminum 3" piping, and I know i'm going to have to crush part of it. No bigggggg

Sounds like a good idea. Any plans of making it a kit. I'll be your first customer for the right price, because $275+ shipping is just too much.
 
they are local if someone wants to call them and see if they would consider i could bring them my stock one and go by for some fitting, i just dont have them time to call and bug them.

Wouldn't be hard to make your own out of 95% silicone and a few sections of 3" aluminum pipe to connect it all. That is what I was thinking of doing before I got the ATP pipe to fit like I wanted it to.
Start with a 2" to 3" 5 ply silicone 90* coupler. Add a 3" section of aluminum pipe and use one of those vacuum taps they sell at the auto parts store for your vacuum source near the turbo inlet. Then use a long straight piece of silicone hose to make your way up to the area between the battery box and the motor. I would use the thicker 5 ply stuff so it doesn't cave in under hard throttle. The use another piece of 3" aluminum pipe to connect a 45* coupler over to you MAF or what ever. For the DV vent you can use a 90* 1" marine through hull fitting plumbed righ into the straight piece of silicone tubing. For the top breather that goes to the valve cover you can use a 90* 3/4" marine through hull fitting and plumb it into the 45* coupler. This would be flexable so the space between the battery box and motor wouldn't matter at all.
