Ran 1/8 Thursday night. SRI only.

I do have the Cobb SRI and the CorkSport Motor Mounts. I think allot of the problems people are running into is they let there car REV out too much. In the 1/8, All I done so far, 8.88, 2.17 60 ft also. I'm crossing the line well into 4th gear. I ran 6 times and never ran under 78mph, that's with a few too aggressive launches that went up in wheel hop so as I knew my ET was gonna suck, I'd just up-shift into 3rd and get her into 4th ASAP and see how fast I could trap, and even my slowest 9.6 had an 80.11MPH Trap.

Try Shifting at about 5700 RPM without an Intake and around 6000 if you have an intake, seems to work for me. As soon as I get a chance I'll post my slip and also go run the 1/4.

I'm going to the track to run the 1/4 this wednesday. MODS: SU rear motor mount. I'll post my time slip when I finish. I'm guessing 13.8 - 14.1 @98 -101mph.

Suggestions.
Launch her EZ, you really cant Drop Clutch Launch this car. I found it best to get up there and Deep Stage, try and hold revs at about 2K and let the clutch out until it just grabs(I used the Rally style Parking brake hold it still a few times).

On green do a pretty much normal launch with a little more rev and a little slipping and get her into 2nd ASAP, this car makes its speed after the launch. Shift around 5800-6000, depending on mods and get her into 5th before line. I've only run the 1/8th so far but I was pretty well into 4th at almost 82mph at the line.

Tire Pressure, I ran 45 in my rears and 20 even in fronts. before you all ask, I raised the rear air so it would sit up as high as possible in Rear and less rolling resistance.

Weight reduction, Floor Mats, Spare, Jack, everything out of trunk. My car was completely empty except for me, my wallet and phone. Oh and barley any Shell High Test, 1/8th tank or so.

Good Luck, if the Temp is right, I'd think your right in the ballpark of where you'll run, Never no, I've seen some fast Speed3's and a Mid to High 13's are totally possible, Good Luck and let us know how it goes.
Tom.

Thanks! It's suppose to be Fair and 37 degrees  Cold front coming here in Central Florida apparently. I think my car will like this. hummm.. didn't think about lowering my tire pressure, perhaps this will help with my 60ft.

Laloosh, the only reason i was deep staging was for the fact i was rolling a little, I agree though, dont deep stage for time, for me it was just so i wouldn't roll into a red light.

No offense, but I think you confused yourself. Deep staging is staging JUST before the red light sensor. You don't get a fast ET, but it helps you to be the first guy down the track. Shallow staging, i.e. barely turning on the 2nd staged light nets you higher traps and helps keep you from rolling into a red light.

None taken. If your definitions are right, I was shallow staging, guess in my head and from watching on tv I thought the definitions were opposite.
Thanks for the correctioin.

Was the track open Wednesday? I didn't see any cars or the strip lit up...
The weather was perfect though for running...

I saw some cars lined up at around 5:30-6pm and then passed in front of it around 7pm and there was no one... (huh)

NO they closed it down.. Said it was too cold and afraid ppl would be breaking axles, etc.. I drove about 45min down there for nothing.

What area are you from; 45 mins?
Break axles...? Thats sounds like a personal problem... Who cares???
That would have been fun to watch...if you are the driver/mechanic/owner should know how to launch your car and what weaknesses your car has...

It shouldn't be up to the drag strip to watch over people's rides...

Ran the 1/4 tonight but only got to do one run because it was so crowded.

First off I really hope the short shifter kits available for the speed 3 are a massive improvement over the stock one... The stock shifter is crap!!!

My time was a piss poor 14.81@90... I went for the 4-5 shift at about 5500 (something like 85mph) and grinded 5th and it didn't go in so I just kinda coosted to the line. I'm pretty certain I was on my way to a low 14

Only good thing was that I didn't have the really bad wheel hop thanks to the SU rear motor mount.

I'm getting the TWM short shifter kit next week, if it works as good as ppl or saying it does I'll break 14 no problem because the stock shifter is my problem. The car was plenty of power stock to run under 14sec.

I was just thinking... Imagine if this car was offered with a DSG tranny like the one in the GTI. Mid 13's all day long stock

You should get the TWM Shifter Bushings if you haven't already, kept me happy, not that I don't agree, the tranny could use allot of improvement, feel wise anyway, it seems to "Work" well and be fairly sturdy for the amount of power were putting thru em. I'm waiting for the Cobb STS, supposed to be Adjustable Height and Throw Length. The Shift bushing are a great improvement for something like 30-40 bucks, and I have not heard anything bad about the TWM shifter either, I just want it adjustable.

your right..deep staging only allows you to get a better reaction time..you are more likely to red light if your not used to deep staging,it has nothing to do with ur et
