Here are a few pics of my CX~9

My stereo set up...

Started without bose seeing as it is usually more expensive to replace because you need to bypass the stock amps.

We added a jl audio cleansweep to crispen up the signal from the stock head unit. (keep in mind we only had the truck 2 days before dropping it off for install) we kept the head unit because no one had heard of these bieng messed with so we had no idea how or if the head unit could be replaced or id it would be as complicated as the mazda6 or RX8. And we had less than 3 weeks to have it ready for Spring Break Nationals in Daytona!

We added a JL Audio 450/4 to power Focal K2P's (6.5 & tweet) upfront and Focal Access 165 A1's (6.5 & tweet) in back.

Then a JL Audio 1000/1 pushing two JL Audio 10W6V's


Lets not forget tha alarm that was a nightmare in itself since no one had done one they had no idea how the wiring would be.

Next we are working on a 7 inch touchscreen monitor with a 100gig hard drive car-puter.

I am ready for any performance upgrades, just haven't found any!

Nice work man! Carpet can really simplify an install.

FYI on the Bose system: Most Mazdas have a Bose system that utilizes an external amp for powering the speakers. The head unit itself puts out 2v pre-outs to that amp. For aftermarket guys this makes things real simple. Pull out the amp and speakers and the head unit is a perfect starting point (no need for a CleanSweep).

Performance upgrades? Those will be tough to find. The CX-7 is getting decent support because it shares its engine with the Mazdaspeed6 and Mazdaspeed3 but the CX-9 isn't so fortunate.

The problem with mine was when I bought ot I had 3 weeks to get ready for a MAJOR car show (Spring Break Nationals) And this was in early March and no one knew what was involved with the radio. Like if it was like the 6 or what so I went this route to be safe!

2 Pioneer 3-Way 6x8's in the rear deck (ghetto mounted)
Stock amp to power deck speakers
JL 500/1
JL 12W6v2 (ported box, my first one I ever built so it looks like hell)

My hope is to maybe over Thanksgiving break do a fiberglass enclosure for the sub and the 500/1. Eventually I want to get new components in the doors as well. Beats the hell out of my car the way it is, but I want to get my trunk space back.

This is what I have in my 07 3i

Alpine CDA-9887 w/ Ipod intergration and programed with Imprint
Fronts: Boston Pro 60's
Rears: Boston Pro 60's
Subs: 2x Boston G5 10" DVC in a custom box
Amps: 2 x PDX-1.600 to power the subs and PDX-4.150 to power the speakers. All the amps are stackeds on the left side of the trunk.

This weekend I am adding 100 sq/ft of dynomat and the Rockford Fosgate RFC10HB 10 Farad cap. I will post pics once that is done.

Very basic setup for me. Along with the stock 9 speaker BOSE system I added an ALPINE PLV-7 for some low end.

Perfect fit.
