What have you done to your P5 today?

Installed Progress rear sway bar.

How's the difference?

I'm scared that if I install this sway bar, the rear is just gonna be so stiff that the it's going to slide out in hard corners.

It's happened twice to me already with the stock sway...

You should autocross more. I'm reading this going... "yeah, it's supposed to do that" lol

For the record, I'm in no way condoning hanging the car out around corners on the street, BUT: if you want to learn car control, autocross for a couple seasons. You'll know exactly what the car's going to do in 99% of any situation you'll get in on the road.

'01-'04 Tributes or MPVs? We've got an '00 MPV.

If that would work, my wife would be very happy. It is her P5.

Yeah, MPV's too. The part # is the same. You might be ok with the 2000. I searched onlinemazdaparts with the part # and this is what came up (it mentions 2000 a couple of times)

You may want to confirm with Jason there first though or swap them and see if it works. Only takes about 10 minutes.

I may have it backwards, only the 03 MPV stalk works? Lemme dig up the how-to................OK, here's the skinny. You have no issue. The issue was for sedans. Have to get a euro 626 stalk to work on mp3 or sedans. 2002-2004 MPV stalk should work for the P5s. Sorry for the misinfo, been a few yrs since doing this & just remembered there being a catch, it just wasn't for the P5s evidentally, just for sedans.

Yeah, us hatchback owners need the Tribute or MPV stalk so we have the rear wiper controls.

Its oil starvation from weak oiling systems. There is even an article about it in Mazdasport Magazine. Doc B racing has discovered this problem. They are working on a solution. Horsepower freaks have also offered a solution to this problem with the FSDE motor..

Exactly how my first engine died. Except I was lucky with my extended warranty and mazdausa mis-diagnosing what the problem was.

It's not a matter of not being able to handle the car, I knew the back end was going to come out, it was pretty predictable. It's fun too, and scary at the same time on small streets...

I was just trying to say that if I stiffen up the rear too much without stiffening the front as well, I'm going to be sideways all the time.

I'm definately Autocrossing this summer, without a doubt.

I gotta find out where they autox around me. I know Moroso speedway has track days and what not, but, I gotta do some more looking into it.

By the way, motor mount still hasn't shown, but, the mechanic needs his garage bay back and is putting the motor back in. so, hopefully this afternoon or tomorrow I'll have my car.

Side note, just won a set of window vents off Ebay. Now I can leave the windows cracked during the day and not die from heat stroke when I get in the car. Had em on my Jeep and I didn't realize how much I used em!!

You can also try NASA, the other 'major' motorsports player. Then there are the marque clubs who usually welcome other cars in a 'visitor' class. BMWCCA, Porsche Club of America, etc.

EDIT: That's less than an hour! I have to drive that long just to get to our events at Atlanta Motor Speedway... We trailered the car 4 hours south to Valdosta this weekend. Then again, I'm a nut job.

last time i looked at nasa, it looked liek they dropped their FL division of NASA-X which was their autocross part....the only thing i've found is a group that used to be NASA that does it in my area and in brooksville that goes by NASA rules...

Try PCA or BMWCCA, those are really the next step down from SCCA Solo and NASA X

Took it around a few corners pretty hard. The car didn't understeer at all, but the rear end didn't step out either. I guess it's because of my crappy Nexen tires that came with the car lol.
