so the computer on my car told me i had 1 more mile to go until i ran out of gas. i was so scared because i knew the gas station was about 2 miles down the road. so i decided to go as fast as i could (without being pulled over) and throw it into neutral. i did so and smoothly cruised into the gas station while running on fumes. i decided i'd share this grand little story with everybody. Yea, depending on how you drive, I think there is like a gallon or 2 left when that hits 0. I've had 6 miles left and I put like 12 gallons in.

I've driven at least 40 miles with that light on before.....headed towards Nashville. Whenever it comes on I know theres at least 2.5 to 3 gallons left. When I finally went to a gas station I still had .9 left

wow the day i see that in my mazdaspeed i think i might poop myself even though i know its not perfectly accurate...

Ya its off and I am glad. When mine reads 0 give or take a few miles, it never holds more than 12.5 gallons. Its consistent at least.

I've been about 10 kms under before.. The speeds catch you so off gaurd sometimes. You just can't help but rip it unknowingly and suddenly you got 5 kms left in your tank

Thats a good way to clog your fuel filter. It sucks all the s*** from the bottom of the tank and sends it to the engine. keep it at least 1/4 tank. Some of you cold weather guys shouldn't be down that low anyways because the more room their is in the gas tank, the more condensation forms and dilutes the gas. Keep her full and happy.

3.slow - I love how you note the color (Gray) of the Porsche 911 carrera on your kill list! That's just too funny!!!

This happened to me today coming back from Philly. I hit Baltimore and had almost no gas left, but it was all highways with no exits. I drove a few miles with "zero miles remaining" but I made it fine to a station. Phew...

Yup, Ive done this myself. Happened ont he 15 on my way out to Vegas - nothing for MILES and then ONE random lonely exit with a gas station, many miles up ahead. I made it up to the exit before it died. Rolled down the exit, pushed it into the gas station and carried on my merry way. :D:D:D

i try not to let it get under a 1/4. fuel pump cooled by fuel in tank and after a 1/4 fuel temp starts to rise.

If the tank is ran low often, there shouldn't be much debris to suck up to begin with.
