oil around the cold side flange on the intercooler

Again, I dont have much experience with this specifically, but the air leaking by would be negligible. This type of thing occurs when attempting to outgas a satellite, tapped blind holes are a big no no because they trap a miniscule amount of air at the bottom when a screw is inserted. It can take days for all of the trapped gas to escape when placed in a vaccum. (approx 14.7 PSI pressure differential)

Yes, air leaks are bad, but you are probably talking about mls of air over days at pressure. I would imagine most of the oil is leaking out when the temperature is cycling and the (aluminum) intercooler is expanding and contracting. Putting RTV in there helps keep the seal intact at all times.

if air was leaking out, I would see it on my boost gauge. boost is still solid. I'm just going to rvt the bolts and call it a day. I'll look at getting a catch can also.

I'm not saying they go through the air passages, rather that they go all the way through the flange. it's not like it's a bad thing...

the gasket is metal. it won't tear. I contemplated putting a new one on, but if I am going to be buying rvt for the bolts, I might as well put a bead around the gasket also. that should fix any leaks at all.

Thats true ! when i moved mine to the new IC i was reading the service man. and i thought i remember it saying carefull not to tear.
Edit: mine was a little stuck

Wait, step back for a minute; you have the AutoExe TMIC? Pimp... (2thumbs)

Yeah !! Some think it was a waist of money and think im crazy cause i could have gone with a nice FM. But i like 2 things. 1 i like to be a little different ,2 the Quality/Fitment is un matched to any TM out yet. Im very happy with it, and dont feel like i have wasted the $ so thats all that counts right?

pic on the way

its a 2.75 core vrs the 3-3.5 that ETS does.... OH yeah the car is WAy different with a better IC im getting more boost longer i run 17-18 psi to about 6200 where she drops to about 15.....

Edit for 1 more pic

Sorry for the tread jack...... Last thing ill say about it s that it really is a HIGH QUALITY part.... Back when I was shopping the ETS had all sorts of rubbing and fitment table...Now that’s all cleared up and guys are making 18-19 PSI on the stock Boost control with the ETS

well I'm pretty sure my cheaping out got me an older model. I'm ok with it though it performs fantastically, and eventually I think I'm going to get the corksport front mount anyway

I shied away from a FM just for the fact that if I have a small warranty issue I dont want to go ripping the FM out once its over though I will prob go FM.

I've already decided I'm probably not going to make any claims on the power train. if something goes wrong, I'll just replace it with something better. they can't void the warranty on the radio for having a front mount, so I think I'll still be ok with the stuff I don't want to mess with.
