Guitar Hero III, anyone?

Ya. Soon after Guitar Hero 2 came out, people found a way to replace songs with any song they desire, so long they insert the .mp3 and a note chart. Now, there's a series of programs out that make it so easy to create and install songs, there's almost 6000 custom songs online now. Not all of them are up to par, game quality, or synched up properly, but there's some great ones out there.

GH3 is still being worked on, not fully cracked open, but it's close. A few months ago I was able to put together a full disc of GH2 with all custom songs. Soon I'll have a GH3 one made with 80+ songs.

PS3 and XBOX 360. play on my buddies wii when we get drunk sometimes. beaten easy/medium/hard now working through expert. Hand cramps. gah. one song at a time. get drunk. play it. cheer. turn it off..lol.

ha i never thought there would be a GH3 thread. i can expert pretty easily. (except when i get to raining blood) i play this game way too much.

Cuz Raining Blood is just stupid. Took me about 70 tries to get a 5 star on Hard cuz of that crazy section near the start.

It's crazy how Raining Blood is so damn hard, but I find Cliffs Of Dover very easy on expert. I can get through the song pretty much every time, and can almost 5 star it. It's my favorite song I've seen in Guitar Hero so far.

so I'm dumb and didn't realize you could use the guitar hero guitar on rockband (i guess xbox only, my brother said ps3 doesn't work). rock band is a lot better, now. still not as good as GHIII. Reptilia on Hard in rock band is like medium in GHIII.

I love the GHIII sound track, being into harder stuff.
The Rock bans tracks are WEAK.
I was very disapointed by its collection of completely boring songs.

I still have to figure out how to set up the drum set to make it comfortable. And rather I am alone or not, I feel like a complete douch singing.

I love the GH3 setlist, my favorite so far.

On a side note, I finally beat One on Expert, easily too. That part after the solo really got me every time. Passed it with flying colors yesterday though. Next up, Raining Blood.....

I got rockband for my b-day on the 26th, the guitar contoller is garbage...I own all on GH on hard and most of expert...Dragonforce...Not'chet but im working on it :D

I'm a noob at GH3, but i'm having fun... what's fun is get a bunch of friends over and bet on who can get the highest percentage on Through the Fire and Flames on Expert... loser has to go get food/drink/hookers/whatever your preferrence is...

i can get close to 100% on GH3 medium on most songs but i struggle on hard because i can't seem to get my fingers down to orange without screwing up.

i guess i should go into practice mode and slow the songs down until i get used to it. anyone got any other suggestions? i'm playing on Wii if it matters.

Ya I felt retarded when I first tried GH1 on hard. The guitar hero series has scaled up so much since the first one. I extracted a bunch of songs from GH1 and put em in GH3 on PC. Back when GH1 came out, I couldn't beat Bark At The Moon on expert. Now, consistent 5 star.

Anyone going to get GH: Aerosmith?

Also, anyone heard the rumors about the next game in the series, GH: Metallica!

I have GH3 for Wii... I don't play it much anymore.

Rock band however... I need to go buy it today :)

i picked up rockband for wii on sunday and it's fun to play, but i still prefer the gameplay and feel of guitar hero.

the guitar from RB stinks in comparison to the one from GH3. the "strum" switch just doesn't have the right feel to it. i feel like you really have to strum it hard versus GH3 where you can toggle it up and down easily. a quick google reveals that many agree the GH3 guitar is far superior. Also, playing the songs on the guitar in RB are much easier than GH. Expect to get a lot of 100% on the same difficulty level from game to game. (like, i play GH3 on medium and get over 90%, but on RB, I easily get 100% on medium) even the first time i ever played some songs.

i'm looking forward to the fall release of GH: World Tour which will also include a drumkit as pictured:

once again, the GH peripherals seem to be superior. they have the benefit now of going second and making appropriate changes to the drumkit (i.e., changing the drumheads so they aren't so loud, better layout, etc).

here is a demo:

Don't get me wrong, I am having fun playing RB, but i look forward to the next GH game. Oh yeah, don't count out Konami and their "Rock Revolution" when it comes out. I just hope that they can come to some agreement to standardize the instruments because I won't keep buying instruments over and over for each game (where am I supposed to store them all???)

I just want more songs :)

Wii GH3 doesn't allow you to get more songs :(

well you could pick up the GH: Aerosmith Edition this sunday.. (it has more than just Aerosmith songs on it)

as far as Rock Band goes they have a "Track Pack" that you can buy which has 20 new songs on it since you can't DL new songs.
