Best exhaust

Can anyone tell me what the best exhaust is? I just bought an 08 ms 3 and I want whichever one will give the most power.

My understanding is you aint really gittin chit from an exhaust. You need to do an SRI or CAI PLUS exhaust to get something worthwhile. Then again, I only drive a 2.3, sans turbo. You still faster than me.

ok, thanks. so if i run the mazdaspeed cold air intake first, what would be best. I dont car as much about sound as power. I know mazda claims with their ms cai and cat back exhaust you pick up 30 crank hp, is that the best?

I will be going with the Corksport Exhaust. It's a tad over 3 inches and mandrel bent.That should be good enough for me. Oh, did I mention that it is inexpensive as far as exhausts go?

Protege Garage has it for $450.

my ghl sounds real nice, didnt notice as much power increase as the CAI tho. i have also heard good things about the corksport system

catback is really just going to make a nice noise. The stock speed3 exhaust is really nice sounding stock AND flows quite well. I currently have a Corksport exhaust and I love it. The sound is awesome (especially from a cold start) and the build quailty of mine was top notch. Solid welds, polished SS and not that thin china crap metal were used to with the exhaust manifolds of XSpower fame.

If you are concerend about power, get a top mount intercooler and a CAI.

I noticed a slight improvement with a cat back. I know GHL makes top notch set ups as I had one on my VW. I opted for the mazdaspeed catback and frankly, I've very pleased with the sound and factory look. (the tip is about one inch bigger than factory but still stealthy)

free kind is the best exhaust, remove ur resonators and ur second cat and replace them with str8 pipe..some guys have done this and it sounds good. and its like 60-100 bucks for a shop to do it,

my preference is the CP-E downpipe and catback combo, i like their 1 piece downpipe, this is what i will probably get this year.

thanks everyone for your input. I went to the ghl website and they only show ms protege, does that work for the ms 3?

also on the ms 3 cai, does anyone know if there is one out there for the 2008? I went to the dealer yesterday to order the ms one and they said it won't be out til spring. Is that right?

as for ghl, i guess they havent updated their website yet, I would call them and ask. THey are very nice guys and helped me out quite a bit.

as for the cai, I cant imagine why the cai for 2007 wouldnt fit the 2008. there werent any engine changes as far as i knew

CPE is the company that makes the part, DP is down pipe, CBE is cat back exhaust

Buyer beware about the GHL. You need the chop the tip and replace it with a 3" I.D 4" O.D tip because they installed a 2.5 I.D, 4" O.D tip, idiots.

Than there is the occassionally banging from poor fitament under there as well. Save yourself the headache and get the CS. Its cheaper anyways.

Regarding gains with the catback only vs full turbo back...

Without being to damned obvious, the intake+catback is worth about length and a half to two lengths on an intake only Speed3. That, or Cosmic Blue is slower than Black Mica. However, I am going full turbo back as soon as I can.

Cosmic Blue is slower than Black Mica, and both are slower than Sunlight Silver. At least that's how it is around Dallas. Sorry to be the messenger (peep)
