Fuel cut, maybe boost leak. Anyone else having the same problem?

I recently put an injen cai, turbo xs tbe and an ets three inch tmic on my 07 mazdaspeed3. Its definetly faster in acceleration and it holds fine in second gear and usually third but once i hit forth and fifth gear under wot around 4000 rpm the damn thing loses all throttle response and i can't even hit 100 mph now! It just sputters and runs like deuce. Anybody having the same problems or have any ideas on what the cause might be? thanks

I'd do a pressure test, seeing as you swapped out the intercooler, but I'd start looking into the upgraded Cam Driven Fuel Pump at Protege Garage.

I bet you have some kind of boos/vacuum leak somewhere. There are others here with more mods than that w/o any problems.

Ya, double check your intercooler hose clamps.. Also, consider replacing them with T-clamps if you already havent done so.

LOL, its not boost leaks. Come on guys are we all blind to the fact that once you mod these cars they hit fuel cut, boost cut, timing cut, etc etc. My car has tmic, map clamp, testpipe, and intake on it right now and its still cutting on stock boost solenoid. FUEL, FUEL, FUEL.

So ive been lookin around on the forums more and i'm readin the problem is the fuel pump, some say spark plugs others say it needs a retune, so what's the actual 100% known reason? It feels like i'm hittin a damn wall when the power drops out and i know the easy solution, don't mash the pedal, but ya know how hard that can be! I just wanna resolve the problem cuz i feel like a douche puttin all this money into a car just to have it be crappier than stock when it comes to top speed and reliability!!!

Dude honestly.... there is not one single person on these forums that really know why the car sputters or fuel cuts. you should be paintent before you go off and buy that PG pump because the problem might be caused from somthing else like the in tank pumps lack of volume to the cdfp, tunning, or hell even the spark plugs. only time will tell for sure. dont listen to one person on this forum yet until we have solid proof. good luck

Its weird that you say that nig. Because everyone that has installed a cdfp is not having issues anymore. LOL YOU are relentless.

He is not supposed to need a pump upgrade with a I/C, TBE and CAI. There where others with similar mods before the pg pump came out, and they where running fine.

I need an answer myself. I too have the sputtering issue during idle. sometimes I hit what seems to be fuel cut but every so often. I am running as you all know, an CAI, TBE.

I maybe wrong but seeing as it only occurs in certain gears it could not be the engine. Possibly the trans, but i'm just kicking the bucket around throwing out ideas. If it is the fuel. Maybe it is the pump but also check the fuel filter. That's got me in the past before. Damn filter clogs up and i couldn't get it past 40. Swapped it and everything was fine. But I agree with Nig3 none of us are experts and even if someone on here is an expert we aren't physically at the car trying to diagnose the problem. make sure you figure out what it is before you start replacing parts.

Except that laloosh still hit fuel cut with the upgraded fuel pump.

there are many reasons for fuel cut/boost cut, we all know this.

any boost over than 18psi without a MAP sensor trick, via ATP or electronic fix via cpe or txs.

temperatures, fuel pressure, MAF voltage, etc. every area has to be looked out to tune out fuel cut.

Went in for a regular check up today and had em check for boost leaks and they found nothin. Hit the freeway and didn't run into the problem in fourth but fifth it still muffs up. Its not as cold out today so that may be a reason behind it. I just don't wanna swap out the fuel pump yet cuz i'm only at 4000 miles lol. I got a lil antsy at makin this thing faster. My patience is definetly lacking in this situation!!!

Haha I'm sure we can all account for that at one point in time. Over the summer my best friend and I took the engine and trans out of my '73 Nova. We installed a new intake manifold, replaced the head gasket, new carb, new camshaft, electric fan, tranny cooler, and some other mods. I wanna kick my own ass for not sitting down and thinking thru everything before we bought the parts. I could have put a much bigger camshaft in than i did without an risk of floating or over extension of the valves. Don't beat yourself up too bad.
