$38,000 Entry Level Luxury aka Sport Sedans Shootout

I think every time there is a comparison, there's some debate about what belongs there, and what "could kick the s*** out of all of these cars", how somebody would take the MS3 over any of them, etc, etc.

i personally would spend an extra grand and get the 335i turbo...flash a tune to it and run 12's all day long!

Mercedes C - Class is the bottom line either way it is no shock it didn't win, it is more of a shock they even put it in there. Besides most people the buy them are in the 35-50 range and don't care about speed or handling.

Actually the new C-Class is are very nice car and does handle pretty well. I've driven a 08 C-350 several times and its really a nice car to drive. Its not as sporting as the BMW 328i.

C Class is the bottom line Mercedes Benz I've driven it too, I work for them. They handle ok but again the amount of young people that are buying Mercedes aren't that many. I wouldn't buy one you can get alot more for your money with other makes (like BMW better warranty is a major reason). I would buy other makes that we have but the C Class just doesn't do it for me personally.

Most of the C class drivers that I see here are younger people. The 328i is also BMW's bottomline at the moment. What is Mercedes warranty period? BMW is 5/50K and they have the free maintance for that time period as well.

4 Years or 50,000 miles but we have no maintance plans at all for our cars which is a big reason why most people prefer BMW.

We have sold alot of C - Class but overall for all dealerships combined Benz just isn't what most younger people go for although they are trying hard to get more people in there 20's to buy. Unless they make some big upgrades I dont think they will see what they are hoping for anytime soon.

There are things I notice and I guess may nitpick a little more because I see the car everyday. I also see how often they come in to be serviced lol.

Keep in mind way I say that they are trying to get more younger people to buy I am really just going off what they have been drilling in our heads for the past 6 months. The largest age group that buys our make overall is 35 - 50 is a general statement not just pertaining to the C-Class customer.

I'm afraid it is you who's missing the point.

A vetter and 335i are different because ones a sedan and ones a coupe. Ones a pure bred sports car and the others a luxury sporting sedan

Thats exactly the point, the only things a 335i and Corvette have in common are 2 doors, RWD, and price. The only thing the G8 and those sedans have in common are 4 doors and RWD.

The G8 is a mid-sized sports sedan, these cars are entry level luxury sport compacts, these are not their performance counter parts. If you wanted to compare performance then you'd use the M, AMG, or V models.

Thats why its not fair to say the G8 is better for the price, because you're basing it soley on performance. Those sedans are not performance cars. If i wanted to buy a luxury car i know i'd definitely not choose a Pontiac over any of those, even if it is cheaper.

Hmmm, that is a good point. If it were a purely performance number comparison, it would be fair only to compare cars in the same market segment.

Even if the quality is just as good or very close to as good for thousands less?

Then that would put you in the category of Badge snob. See my point.

Its a simple case of what the best car you can get for the money. I would still take the G8 over comprable AMG, M or V models because it's almost as luxurious, handles just as well and is almost as fast.

You mean the 335ci. I wish BMW kept the "ci" for the coupes. Makes it confusing when talking about all the new models. I know what you are saying at what else that is out there. But you have to remember the consumer that needs a sedan is not going to cross shop a 335i with a Vette.

Actually The G8 has one thing in common with this sedans because 3 of them are classified as midsizers just like the G8. The 328i is still classed as a compact for some reason. The e90 is roughly the size of a e34 5 series which was a midsize car. The G8 is a well engineered car for a GM product. Its has both European and Aussie development in it. I think it will hold its own with ride and build quality. Just look that the two GTOs that I drive alot. They have a better fit and finish then the BMWs that they share garages with. I still take a G8 over a 328i. Did I really type that?

i kind of like the c class, my dad is planning to trade the cx-7 but we don't know for which car!! The range is between 30k to 37k for a sports sedan segment which one you will recomend?? I allready have my G35 and im in love with it LOL!!!

I just did some research, and I have to say I am TOTALLY digging the G8 GT.

Very slick exterior and a very sharp interior as well. A fully optioned-out G8 GT with 361 hp, 385tq V8 for $32k MSRP? I think I found my next car...
