How-to: Fogs always on [PICTURES]

Diehonda, I'm thinking about these...where did you get the steel and did you wire them to the stock fog switch? I want to do that, but I'm no whiz with the wires...any feedback/ideas appreciated...

Let me do some measurements and let you know on the bracket and what not. The weather this weekend didn't let me get any pics.

I wired it to the factory switch and took me about ten minutes to install once the brackets were made. I took my bumper off at the time, afterwards I realized that I could have installed them with the bumper still on.

I put my PIAA 2300K's in the fogs, and, My hid kit should be here today, so, I"ll have pics later this week!!

Just did this and the window mod, easy peasy. :) The fogs don't stay on with the highs though.

Awesome write-up. (2thumbs)

Ok I'm just going to say I've noticed you guys saying you can only wire these to the parking lights. I have not owned a P5, but a couple Acura Integras and in my community we all rewire our fog lights, however, we do it so they can be on ALONE, or with any other combination of lighting. The difference is we pull the fog switch out, cut the power wire, and then splice a brand new wire and run it into an open spot on the fuse box. I've always wondered why you guys don't do that...? Anyone ever tried?

because then theyd stay on with the high beams and our weak alternators and electrical systems cant handle that kind of load. its been discussed before (i believe i posted an answer to that question in this thread actually)
its a great idea but the eletrical system just wont handle it.

Ah well, when we do it, the button works like normal, on or off whenever you want. It's not wired to stay on all the time.

If you want to run the fogs alone without turning on any other light you run the cut red wire to the thick blue ignition wire or the accessory wire (black/red) if you use the accessory wire instead of the yellow/green. If you wire to the acc than the fogs will run when you use the radio without the ignition on. Furthermore any combination of lighting can be used. You can have all; low, high and fog on at the same time.

This has all be discussed before. You newbies should try using the search function and read old threads instead of creating new ones.

Don't start a flame war against a member trying to improve on a five year old thread.

They could have posted this how to in that thread to be lost in the back. If a mod cleaned that thread up for just information then maybe it would be worth it to merge.

Since I did the bumblee G mod on my fogs they are always on with my high beams and it didn't fuc%ed up my alternator

youre lucky then. i just know that i overloaded my original alternator a few months ago and it blew the bearings out of it, therefore my charging system barely worked.
im just basing my statements off of my personal experience with this car and off of others information. the eletrical system is weak in the protege and it doesnt hold large amounts of power very well.

how hard do you have to pull to get that stupid door side panel off?

edit: nevermind got it haha

There are people running this mod for more than 2 years no one has blown there alternator obviously you have done something wrong.

I was just gonna say, Use a flathead screwdriver, but, I missed the post earlier.

I LOVE this mod! One of my favorites so far and by far the easiest!
