ATP FMIC Now Available

rediculous!!!!!!!!!!! Price is outragous. You can buy a big core off ebay for $200 and then have piping made for around $200-300. Someone that buys that is wasting hard earned money. Ill stick with the upgraded tmic that spools better and cools just as well.

another worthless mod coming out of the pipe.. You know, if youre going to make a FMIC kit, at least use a core with some balls....

The core has to be the smallest out there foe a kit that's available. I AM glad to see that they've had a ms3 in the shop though. Parker, a rep that I was close with for quite sometime, told me to expect the ownpipe and inlet combo for Christmas time, or soon there after.

yay for more products and more aftermarket.

Surface Area is what were looking for. If youre going to convert an MS3 to a front mount, give us a large heat exchanger. Otherwise, youre just wasting your money instead of upgrading to a ETS setup.

Well, I'm sure the size of the core isn't bad for the stock turbo, but what about if you upgrade? They state it's good for 400HP, but so is CPE's and BEGis and they have bigger cores. I could see if it was cheaper in price, but a smaller core for about the same amount of money?

I dont agree. I think the smaller the turbo and higher the boost levels the hotter the air you push. I think for cooling a bigger the better for the stocker. The major benefit a bigger turbo is gonna get from a bigger fmic is the flow capabilities. Either way the bigger the better to an extent. You dont wanna have alot of pressure drop.

The spearco 24x12x3.5 core is the s***. Only 1psi pressure drop and alot more power. I gained 40whp on the last srt I just built from stock fmic to this core. PLUS THE BLING FACTOR. OH YEAH. (headbang)

is the atp fmic really that bad?? how about the bigger core for $75 bucks more??

No there's nothing wrong with ATP. Actually I recommend them for most products. If you could opt to have a larger core then it would be fine, but just saying the core on the stock FMIC is smaller then other competitors. Also when you're dealing with something coming out of your bumper that others can see the bigger results in more eyecandy.

i was about to say, they do offer a much larger core if you check thier links. surface area alone does not make an FMIC great. probably the biggest ricer misconception out there when it comes to turbo cars. if you really want to get technical and less cosmetic about it, get all the available kits, pressure test thier cores, take thermal logs of post core air temps at various points of "heat soak", measure how long it takes each unit to heat soak and to what degree.

thats never going to logically occur though.

covering the entire inlet of the front end of the car is not wise, especially in warmer climates. your radiator, fans and condensor need to breathe as well. this is why most companies design thier systems the way they do. intake air temps aren't going to offset the long or short term effects of a car thats close to or is overheating.

don't forget - the biggest ETS core still has the same or more volume and shorter flow paths than most if not all of the current FMIC setups available for several hundred less.

Well you can have a very effective, low pressure drop, large surface area FMIC... Why do you think so many people use the Ford Powerstrokes Intercooler in their projects? Its a 3 core, low pressure drop, large surface area, mammoth!

Someone will eventually make a good kit.

a local tuning shop offer the atp fmic at cost $750 for their dyno car....they will pull a baseline then gain after the fmic installed....should i opt out for the bigger core for $75 bucks?

If you want to do it right why not just go with a Liquid to air intercooler, they are much better than air to air. hell AMS made huge gains on their EVO when they went to one.
