$400 title transfer fee?

Up here in Canuckistan tax is added to the price of the purchase.

We also don't have GT/Sport variations on the Speed3. We just have a Speed3. No leather option, no navigation system, no TPMS, everything else is standard.

You do get one no cost extra: Heated outside mirrors(headbang)

Guys here in CA the 400 sounds about right... its the car registration fee which is based on a percentage of the car (and its separate from sales tax)... this is not a dealer charge... they estimate the registration fees and add it to the price... if the actual DMV charge comes in LESS they are supposed to give you a refund

Dealers dont make a dime from the 400 bucks... they do make money on the fact they hardly ever refund the difference from actual charges by DMV and their estimate (you have to call them to get it back)

So this is normal then? I guess that this car will be more than I thought.(bang)

Slow down guys. I did not buy a car yet. I went into the dealer to talk about ordering a white MS3 and this is what they told me.

They would do $500 over invoice
they would add 200 for the auto dim mirror with home link
add 200 for white
add 1500 for gt(no sports in white there)
add 400 for the title and plates

so the way I see it I need to get them down about 2800 before making a deal.

i work for a dealer and i am confused as hell. are they starting at the base invoice for a sport model?

No I was just using that as a mental comparison for myself. I suppose I wrote it up kinda funny.

It was to say from what I wanted how much over I would have to pay. Idealy I would just opt for the sport and save that money and not have any options. Then he told me about the 200 more that the white color costs. It is just like a list of stuff that is more than I thought I would be paying if I go with this dealer.

oh ok. well there probably will be a slight price increase for 2008 but i hope the pricing sheet will help you out. oh and pearl paint is invoice of 172 and retail of 200. i can't help you with the 400 because we don't have that in NC. we have 3% tax, tags are 55 for trading and 69 for new, and our DOC fee. ours is 459, and that varies from dealership to dealership.

Ok I will try that. I probly won't be going back in there untill the spring when they get the white in though.

when the time comes closer let me know what dealership and i can check to see when it will be coming in. that way you can get first crack at it, as long as no one has a deposit on it.

Im not sure what state you are in but you can do a quick search for that states dmv and the fees will be clear... here is the one for CA

https://mv.dmv.ca.gov/FeeCalculatorWeb/index.jsp

It will give you estimate of fees based on your estimated purchase price... estimator isnt working for me at the moment but 400 in state license fees and registration is within normal... 400 for "dealer fees" isnt - make sure you find out for sure what those 400 bucks are going towards

Will do.

Will do. Good tip.

For the Sport model, the invoice is 20,800. They will never let you get that price. They say "We need to make money to and what about the salesmans comission?" They sell the car and get a kickback from Mazda anyway. Just play mind games with them. They quoted me at $24k on the MS3 sport and I said $20,000. The guy almost s*** his pants. I got it for $21k after weeks of playing their game. They made $200 from me and got the 2-3% kickback from mazda.

Yea with the internet quote they gave me a quote of 500 over invoice and they hinted at 200 to 300 over was doable in the spring when I will be getting mine.
