MS3 Age & Occupation Thread

Kids

I am 67 and would be happy to race you kids in my MS3 around any track you choose! I am VERY impressed by the technical know-how and obvious computer skills some of the posts demonstrate. My only concern, having been a sports car guy for more than 50 years, is that a lot of the emphasis is on power alone and too little on building a balanced and drivable high performance car. The car comes with more than enough hp.

Any fool can go fast in a straight line. I love my car, it has terrific performance, only modified with a Mazdaspeed cold -air induction, but it needs help to be a GREAT car. I am adding wheels and tires for track use. The gear shift is lousy, particularly first to second and not so hot from five to four. Five years ago with stock tires my Ford Contour SVT out braked and out cornered my MS3!

The MS3 while being a superbly practical car is 500lbs overweight...how strange for Mazda. Go to bed now children..

Ahh, a wise one. Welcome to the forums; Ol'grasshoppa!
Glad you're lovin the speed3!! Other than the wheel and tire upgrade, you plan on suspension upgrades anytime soon? By the by, I would like to race around a track with ya!! I've got enough Gran Turismo know how under my belt... lol
I'm a Noob at real track racing...Have to get out to a track some day...

There is nothing like being on a road racing track. You will always find somebody faster/better. My excuse is being heavier than the other guy. 180 pounds is slower than 120 lbs! 200 ibs is slower than 170 lbs. 67 is slower than 27, maybe. Not understanding suspension set-ups is the real killer. The hardest thing is to find the right set-up for your car. hp is only part of the answer. Paul Newman had to be almost lifted into his Corvette at Lime Rock a couple of years ago, but his lap times were VERY competitive. There is a message there.

I agree with you, Limerocker. I would rather have an underpowered, great handling car than an overpowered, poor handling car. Former autocrosser here (33, had to stop due to brain surgery) that knows about set-up...

i'll be the envy of you...(upyours)

can't wait to see you get it!!! lol

I will get a pearl white one for sure unless I come accross a good deal on a used one. I won't pay much more than 19k for a used one though so it might be unlikley to find one.

Three weeks ago I got drive the new MS3 couple miles from dealer into my garage. Got on a plane to China next morning, been here ever since, still have'nt experienced the Zoom Zoom. Give me something to look forward to when I get back, course by then we'll have three feet of snow.
