Own a Mazda MX-6? Post Your Pics!

Yes, they are indeed different, IIRC Kitty was Vintage Red as Asuna stated, Carmen is called Passion Rose Mica. However, what inspired her name was the name of a pigment:

Hey i noticed a few autocross cars here so heres a link to a brake upgrade I just discovered. http://www.mx6.com/forums/2g-faq-performance/199188-brake-upgrade-how.html#post1914153

it's basicaly what the Mazdaspeed protege came with stock and I suspect that the MS 6 brakes will fit also. Mazda claims the MS 6 brakes are the biggest factory brakes ever on a mazda.

do you have any dimensions on the clearance requirements for the upgraded brakes ? it looks great, i just want to know if it will clear 15s since i run the stocks at autocross and i'm looking into lightwieght replacement 15's when these tires die (smaller rotating mass FTW)

Hmm...Hawk Doesn't have fitment for the '99+ 626...wonder if ones from a Protege would fit, any thoughts?

If not it may be worth it to have the slightly larger rotors, not for autocross, I've got MORE than enough braking for autocross, but for track days it could be nice to have more material in the rotor.

Mazdaspeed Protege brakes besides slightly different calipers are the same as these.
You can buy parts for either but the MS brakes tend to be priced higher.

At the moment I'm using stock 15" ls wheels up front and 16" probe wheels in the rear. The fronts are pretty close but they will fit fine.

The undesirable handling characteristics would offset any such gain...

If anything you'd want a larger, wider tire in front for the drive wheels, which is not an uncommon practice for FWD...

For the sake of being able to rotate tires as needed I would choose equal sizes, and tune the suspention as necessary.

Why the different sizes??

2 of my LS wheels were bent last winter and one of those was actualy cracked.

I bought some nice probe GT wheels cheap. After a mazda meet in Des moines I arrived home with an inch long piece of saw blade in one tire.

So untill I can afford new tires all around I rock these. It dose give a verry slight rake to it and no one even notices the mismatch unless I point it out lol.

Aaaaah, ok, so not trying to augment handling, but done more out of necessity :)

Ryan

Yeah I would consider trying wider wheels up front if I ever buy aftermarket wheels but I see some people "streaching" under and over sized tires trying to augment handling to some extent and i just dont think it's wise.

Just after I had to swap the wheels I took an offramp a little to fast and just about flew off the road. The fronts have brand new tires and the rears are almost bald so I have major over steer.

Yeah, until you start getting crazy (like autocrossing in DSP, Street Mod DP or any other equally nutty class) same size tires are the way to go.
