I do ALL my own work and most of my parts are re-works of e-bay stuff.
Probably the only thing I bought new were the wheels.

How so? I've got less than $6k in that car (other than the car, itself).
If you can't justify that kind of expense, why do you even bother dragging your car out for a "popularity" contest like this one?
(Or get all butt-hurt when you don't win?)
Some people spend more than that on rims!
And I have spent no time on my car? Every damn thing other than the s*** being painted I did, and I don't get but hurt when I lose because I know I'll never win this anyways. I'm not putting anyone down here but my car would have a lot more s*** done to it if I weren't some broke ass 21yo kid with his first ever car. Now lets just cut the crap, you got a sick ass RX-8 and I got some loser ass Protege. It's all cool.

Well, he would be a happier person in general if he wouldn't have a sour grapes attitude about every situation in which he perceives himself as being on the bottom of the pile.
I don't get ticked easily, but one of my pet-peeves is people that don't do their own work on their cars.
I HATE showing up to a local get-together or a show and, after asking someone about their car, get the "I don't know, I just wrote the checks!" response. I think anyone that doesn't do their own mods is a loser.
So, I equally hate being lumped in that category.
I violated my warranty the day I bought that car (well, really several weeks before when I already had a bunch of e-bay gems sitting in my living room, waiting for the car) and I never looked back.
I've cut, welded, riveted, painted, polished and glued nearly every inch of every car I've owned since 1987 and I'd never let someone else touch them - not even to change the oil.
Worse yet, I'm a huge Jew, so I'd rather walk a mile then spend a dime.(laugh)

only time I have ever had a shop touch my car is to redo my power steering line after it burst (cause I didnt have the tools I needed) and to get the rear end fixed after I got rear-ended (cause her insurance paid for it lol)
