Going turbo on your car isn't stressful if you do it right. $1500 is a low budget for it. Trust me, do it right the first time, and do your homework first. I was able to pick up a used HiBoost kit and had to buy a new FMU and some other little things here and there. The end cost, after ceramic coating it as well, was about $3000, which is still fairly reasonable for what I got, and I'm sitting at 208WHP at 8psi. Turbo is the cheapest way to get power, bottom line. But really, it's only as difficult as you make it. I did all my homework, gathered the right parts and everything has been top notch since the install, no headaches at all. Only headache was during the install when a few things went wrong. Like Ken said, can't stress it enough, do your research, make sure you know exactly how a turbo works and what it does. Understanding what you are doing is only the beginning.

There are three ways to go on this the way i see it...
the first is you can turbo your current ride for 1500 bucks and blow it up...
the second is you can save some more money and do it right, protect your motor, and get quality parts (1000 of your 1500 will probably be the cost of just the turbo itself)...this will give you a quick car, but a tons of headaches making it all work, getting the right parts, etc...
The third way would probably be best...save up some more money for a downpayment on car that already has a turbo on it and a decent engine (hmm evo, subie, or ms3?) and then go from there.

not to just be picking on you crashkelly.. cause you know we are friends and everything lol... but NOS on the FSDE engines are horrible. Ive heard more horror stories on this than I have on peicing together a turbo kit. But yeah Im gonna play the broken record and say that 1500.00 is a really low budget to turbo your car. I had a P5 and loved it.. but if you wanna gain HP then its gonna cost some money. You can either go with the MSP route and only run 7psi and be moderate. Or you can go all out and spend 15k and get the hiboost turbo kit...forged engine... etc etc etc... and run the 12-15psi that you are talking about. I choose to part my car out and get a MS3 lol. Much less stress.
i wanna go turbo so bad, but i want to build a block and go big boost and i cant save the money to do all that. I think once i get my current loans paid off and a credit card, im going to take out a loan and do things right. otherwise i might have to piece together a MSP kit and go with 7psi. my goal with big boost would be around 12-15psi. one bad thing about me is ive already thought about selling my car, but no way i can get at least pay off for it. id love to just buy a msp or something already turbo'd
You better not sell your car or else I will hunt you down and gut you like a fish lol.. Ive told you this before.. I love your car. The only thing I could love more about your car is a completely insane turbo-forged engine setup.

The key is to be patient. I've been collecting parts and pieces for almost a year now. I started out with the whole "stock MSP" setup intentions. Pfffhhhtttt....that idea got thrown out the windo real quick. I realized a few months into the project that if I was going to do this I needed to do it right. I picked up a SplitSecond AFC and an AEM wideband (among tons of other goodies) to play it safe. Originally those two items were the furthest thing from my mind.
I would also suggest picking up Corky Bell's book Maximum Boost. I read it twice and feel it helped tremendously. Also.....study, study, study. My bookmarks is full of "How To's" and helpful links. Chances are I'm not going to run into anything that hasn't been discussed on this forum. It's all here, just take advantage of it.

Yeah....the more I studied the more I realized I was treading in dangerous water. I think most people's mind set is "well if I keep it relative to the stock set up I should be fine". Then you hear the horror stories. I was neck deep anyway....I figured what the hell.
I need to fly your ass down to Middle Tennesse in two weeks to stay for a long weekend and help me to get this thing done.

does anybody have a link to the thread that shows everything you need for the MSP kit??? ive searched but i cant find it. I think im going to start piecing everything together and try to make my turbo dreams happen. even thinking about another job just to pay for it. Yes a 2nd job for a damn turbo!!! haha
