Correct invoice price?

:
MSP & MS3
So I'm thinkin about pullin the trigger on a Silver Sport. It just arrived yesterday... Thing is, I'm getting a strange vibe from the salesman. A) he knows NOTHING about the car (tried to convince me the 'media' button on the radio told me what the name of the song and artist was) He also told me the sport has tighter suspension than the GT but that the GT has a bigger engine. I was going to set him straight but didn't think it was worth it. Anyway... the invoice pricing he gave me didn't jive with what I've seen so far.

Stock MS3 Sport $22,218

He said he's sell it to me for $500 over invoice (something I'm pretty sure I can get down) but that invoice price... it's about $500 more than what Carsdirect has it at. What do you guys think? Are they trying to hose me?

($22,718) 500 over invoice is a great price. It is an '08 right? I paid $23,130, I thought it was a good price.

Yes but there is only a 1500-to 2k mark up on this car, 500 over inv is a good price on any new model year, now if you wait 3 months then go try and buy an 07 speed 3 you should be able to get below invoice.

LOL There's like 1 07 left in the whole state... and it has like 500 miles on it. (clearly it was abused by some salesmanager or something)

Anyway, I know $500 over invoice is 'good'. I was wondering if the invoice I was given was accurate. There seems to be some discrepancies so I'd like to know for sure before I sign the dotted line.

Might wanna look around a bit more. I was able to get an '08 GT with Nav, sat radio, and homelike mirror for $25k even.

Incording to edmunds.com the invoice price of the Sport is $20,898. Don't forget to add in any options.

Add in the $595 delivery charge as well.

Code:
20898 +
--595 +
--500 =
21993
Sounds like he's charging roughly $800 over invoice (plus delivery).

-- Hmmm... I would have attached a screenshot of the edmunds.com page but I cannot attach it for some reason. :( --
Aw, I'll just host it myself...

I tried to find that on Edmunds but got frustrated... couldn't find the MS version.

Anyway, thanks for the info. That's exactly what I was looking for.

Hey, tell him you'll buy the car for that price, but you want $100 off for every wrong thing he's told you about the car, because that is mis-representation. LOL, you'd probably get PAID to have the car.

Seriously though, let the sales manager know his guy needs to learn about the cars instead of bullshitting the customer. That can come around and REALLY bite someone in the ass. Mis-representing a product, even like a car, can cause a full-money return to occur legally. He should watch his step and just say he doesn't know if he is about to lie.

I'm dead serious, let his manager know that you are concerned about how he is trying to sell under false pretenses, and you expect correct information if any. Do you remember the fiasco that occurred when some MS3 Sports were stickered with the BOSE option on the invoice stuck to the car? Mazda ended up settling with various solutions from installing BOSE in the car, to reimbursing the owner with a value proportional to BOSE. Bottom line: Mazda mis-represented the product (unknowingly!) and owned up. The sales manager is responsible for his sales people selling properly.

Maybe not $800. I noticed you didn't check any options at all. I haven't seen a MS3 yet that didn't have the Floor Mats and Auto Dimming Mirror.

give me the dealer and the city and state and i will copy and paste the info from mazdas dealer site. (i work for a dealership)

There is a 300 dollar advertising fee that is tacked on to the invoice. That is probably the difference from 800 to 500.

I paid 21,500 something and that was invoice exactly. I saw it on their car sheet.

It is good to get Mazda supplier pricing.(humpleg)

also, referring to the destination fee. ours was 595 but it has recently gone up to 635 i think. there are some advertising fees built into the invoice, but only in certain markets.
