Import MZ5 from USA to Canada ... ?

Hi,
I was just wondering whether anyone has entertained the idea of purchasing a MZ5 from the USA to import into Canada? New or used?
Just curious because of all the law suit stuff and price differential between other manufacturers.

Yes in canada all vehicle needs front lights on
According to the list no problem to import the 5 from the USA.
Like Scion you can import 2 of the 3 models available only the coupe is not importable

great info everyone.

I am not sure of the price differential right now or whether mazda will adjust the differential with the 2008s coming out soon in light of the class action, but with the 6.1% duty eating into the savings and potential warranty issues, do you think that it is even worth the trouble?

So have the prices (in CAD) of cars in Canada stayed about the same? Or, have they been hiking them up? It doesn't really matter what it equates to in the US. I think if you want to pay to buy a US car, and take it back, you should be able to. They have laws in the US that keep us from benefiting by purchasing a car in a different state!

Mazda will not honour the warranty on cars imported from the US of A ! (huh)

Nope. They're all doing that now. Too many sales lost to the US. And since they sell the same product higher here, they make more money. Not only that but with the CND dollar being higher right now, a 2000.00$ difference in price is more like a 2250.00$ dollar difference....which they steal from us.(protest)

Yepper, assume the position ! (moon)

With the soaring loonie, it may make sense to import some makes and models, namely higher end stuff. I know my neighbor's brother saved over 25K by purchasing an escalade a couple months back and I think its those types vehicles that are getting all the press. However, given the relatively small price difference between the US and Canadian models of the mazda5, and the hassles involved with the import and warranty stuff, I personally don't think its worth the effort.
It should be interesting though to see the prices and financing options for the 2008 mazda5. Mazda can justify the price differential in the 2007 by saying that they were manufactured earlier this year when the loonie was not so high, but that argument no longer holds for vehicles being produced this month.
