Change tachometer display ...

hello,

I am thinking of whether to import a used Mazda5 to Canada. Does anyone know whether the tachometer in the USA can be changed to display KM(kilometers) instead of MI(miles)?

I think you mean speedometer instead of tachometer (measures RPMs)? Anyway, I'm sure you could -- but do you really need to? It should have KM displayed on the inside of the speedometer already.

you could probably buy a cluster off a totaled 5, although the mileage would be off.

I’m a bit confused….Do you want both the numbers on the speedometer and the digital readout on the odometer to read in kms?
I think that a computer upgrade will have to be applied in order to change the odometer reading to kms..
I had a buddy who brought a Honda Pilot over from the US several years back and all the Canadian MOT had him do was upgrade the read out on the speedometer….His odometer continued to read in miles.
In fact, to convert his speedometer to km/hr he simply stuck small stickers with the km reading onto the clear plastic cover over the dials i.e., he didn’t have to replace the actual dial if you know what I mean. They were happy with this. He lives in Ontario.

Ya buy Canadian you will be happy with the "EXTRAS" you can't get on the USA one....secondly don't expect any warrenty work as it looks like you need to go to originator for repair..

Unless its a gift stick to the Canadian unit end of story

I apologize for not being clear, I am asking about the digital odometer reading. In some vehicles the conversion can be changed in the computer with the need of a hardware conversion.
