Lol why do all of you guys need this stuff to be happy over your purchase? If someone makes an article about how ugly the MS3 is and how overweight it is, are you gonna be upset you bought one? Buy something because you like it, not because everyone else does.

Also I kinda thought the comparisons were stupid.. The WRX is about as fast as an SI due to the power loss in the drivetrain, and the C30 isn't really all that quick either. It was basically a comparo between the MS3 and the SRT-4.. and the SRT-4 is just cheap fun, nothing more.

What is with you?

Why can't you just leave well enough alone and let us bask in our pride? You're just looking for trouble. You also seem to be totally forgetting that the MS3 cost about the same as the SRT. So your comment of "cheap fun" is actually wrong. Compared to what you get with the MS3 the SRT is expensive. The MS3 also throws in top shelf build quality, a great interior and hi-technology.

Nothing anyone has said isn't true or accurate. BTW did you ever buy an MS3?

Exactly!!!!

The MS3 is purpose built by a company that is actually proud and passionate about its cars...Mazda managed to create a car that is not just a great practical ride with some kick (something any car company can do)...the key is that they didn't stop there...the benchmark was set much higher than the competition...and that is why the MS3 is still a "cut" above the rest.

Nice read (thumb)

You hit the nail on the head.

Exactly. I think that Mazda, BMW, and Porsche are the last three car companies in the under $100K market that are still run by Car Guys. They "get it"- better than anyone else. That's why the MS3, M3, and 911 have such passionate followings; they are designed by real enthusiasts FOR real enthusiasts.

Isn't it past your bedtime? You'll have plenty of time to talk cars tomorrow- during Lunch and Recess.

I Turbo, do you?

look dude, there's nothing wrong being proud of the car we bought.(rockon)
What r u even doing here.....your vtec is not good enough to be in the lineup, i understand, been there, done that....but it's just not good to be saying this like your "post" in a thread filled with ms3 loverz...u gets >>??

so by not u should know that ur gonna be getting this kind of treatment;-).one more thing, I turbo, do you ? lOL

A Honda is a toy... people blow $5K on a ****** sub compact fuel econobox to get 20 hp, never could understand that. Had it not been for the Integra, the SI would still be the same turd it was in 1989. I keep hearing about these 10 sec Honda's but never see em at the track... Must be a magazine exclusive.

Wow you guys get INSANELY defensive over nothing! I never said there was anything wrong with having pride in your car, I just said that it's sad that you have to have a magazine saying your car is the best to appreciate. What I'm getting at is would you still like the MS3 if the article had said the SRT4 trumped it? Because when you say "Hey look it won, now I'm glad I got this car" it makes it seem like you need a win to appreciate it. My point is that you should just like the car because of the reasons you chose to buy it, not because others think it's good.

Also it's pathetic that you guys have to get worked up over nothing and then attack a honda brand. Where did I insult the MS3? I happen to prefer it over the SI, you guys are just very sensitive about the car you bought for some reason. Sorry to hear that

Look cuz, the reason i bought this car is because of "THOSE" people in the magazine praising it. I'm not an idiot an just puchased it without knowing what i'm buying. I test drove different cars too an found out the ms3 is the best bang for the buck. I'ts just a plus that OTHER people also agrees that the ms3 is such a good car.

now over to you, why r u in this forum ? i do understand that you were gonna trade in your si for an ms3 ? did you do it yet ? Now the question is, why did u choose the ms3 and not the caliber ? Ironic huh .(screwy)... i guess you read magazines too, an found out ms3 is king (usa).

Bottom line is, you came in trying to start something, and congratulations! You've managed to do it. This is a forum where the members happen to be passionate abot their cars and happen to currently have ownershp the best sub-compact on the market. The car companies are competing for peoples dollars in this segment and right now Mazda dominating it.

Do I think my painfully slow P5 is the best car ever? Not by a long shot. Do I get a little bit of owners pride when it won comparison tests back in the day? You bet I did. Deep down inside most people want the best value for their money and the MS3 owners are proud of their vehicles. Everything was cool until you came in and started tossing hand grenades in the room.

Nothing wrong with talking about a cars positives and negatives, for example, I am of the opinion that from certain angles, the MS3 looks too tubby and awkward but you made it personal and went after the owners as well. Its your right to do so (I do it with SRT-4 owners all the time :) ) but don't be surprised when people get riled up.

I bought my car before magazine comparison tests. I drove what was out there and liked the MS3 best. The MS3 could rank dead nuts last in every test from here on out. Doesn't matter to me. I still like it. (yippy)

(iagree)

I bought the car without even seeing the car in person, let alone a test drive.

(<-- impulsive buyer)

Regardless of the brand/ model people get, all that matters is whether the vehicle serves the intended purpose, and that you're happy with it. I enjoy reading comparisons; at the same time, comparing for the sake of comparison is futile since there will always be something better tomorrow. (although the book of Ecclesiastes tells us that "It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new" which is also very true) If you work in the tech field, you're probably quite familiar with the definition of the word "obsolete".

I wouldn't be caught dead in a Buick (although I could get hit by one of those... then I'd probably be dead all right. Those things are heavy. >_< ); nevertheless, lots of grandpas and grandmas adore the brand, so more power to them. *^_^*

alright guys calm down.... vtech made what i thought was a decent point and granted what type of responses did he expect... however lets cool it and keep the good vibes going as imo if they had included the gti in the comparo (though it already beat it once) it would have swept the competition...

and as far as that article... wtf is wrong with that author?? the metaphors were so annoying... i am still trying to figure out what the hell he was trying to do with that article he should have left it at the opening paragraph about the jets and the sharks and moved the hell on!!!!

I've been a reader of Car and Driver for many years now, and that's sort of their thing. It's especially bad with some of the upper ladder guys (chief editor, executive editor, and the editors at large). I don't know how many of them hold Ph.D degrees in English, but it's quite amusing to see how many subscribers send complaints to the writing staff in the backfires section that they need a dictionary just to be able to read this magazine.

I haven't read this particular article thoroughly yet (jumped straight to the MS3 section ^_^;; ), and I didn't really pay much attention to the writing itself. I for one do not mind their style of writing since I feel that it is beneficial to expand on the vocabulary that 99% of the general population never use in everyday life. lol~! I guess I could be considered strange. *^_^*

Not at all. I'm a fan also! But I prefer the writing in Automobile and Motortrend.

I just wish all that was true while they were designing/building the MSP.

Thank you.. someone with some common sense <-- that's more insulting than anything I've said so far.

I never once attacked the MS3 before everyone got riled up. All I said was "Like your car for your own reasons, not because others say it's the best". Apparently, some of you can't READ on here and decided to take it as an insult to your beloved car instead. It's sad that such a great car is set back by such a hyper-sensitive community.

Welp, you thought it was stupid where others felt it wasnt. You are in a different community, so keep that in mind when you hit the reply button.

Man you sure do love stirring the pot don't you. Argument just for the sake of argument is silly.
