MS3 hit a protruding manhole

I have a 2008 MS3 just under 1000 miles that was just perfect. This morning driving on a dark street my right front tire hit a protruding manhole cover on a road that was being prep'ed to be paved. Result is that my car is now pulling noticeably to the left. What do I need to do to get this fixed.

Waiting anxiously for advice. Thanks a million in advance

It sounds like you managed to knock the alignment off, try taking it to the dealer and tell them its pulling to the side, they should align the front end for free. DON'T mention the hitting the manhole.

i BET ITS MORE THAn Alignment...I bet the outer tie rod is bent.
Definately get it checked out.

i am not sure if it is going to be free though. The alignment is definitely off but i dont think its just a quick turn of the wrench. If i had to bet you may have bent something. Or maybe you got lucky and your air pressure is just off.

I hate when the damn DOT does that crap. This summer it felt like I was autocrossing trying to avoid those damn things. People bitched so much they finally did some temporary paving around each manhole so there wasn't a 5 inch cylinder sticking up anymore. I highly suggest calling up your DOT and complaining.

tell them that for some reason the car is pulling to the left and DONT SAY s*** ABOUT THE POTHOLE. im sure u can get a free fix since its so new. remeber, dont say anything about the incident

My old Focus whacked a pot hole (well i did) and it collapsed the strut as well. The suspension is basically the same here so its always a possibility if you hit hard enough.

Those god damn manholes... there's a ton of roadwork where I live and it seems like those F'ers are everywhere. why can't they repave that s*** in a more timely manner? seems like the roads (at least where I live) stay F'ed up for a solid week or more... before getting a nice new coat of paint. Once it's done though... my oh my... silky smooth like warm butter on toast. mmmm.... toast. but i digress...

As mentioned, bring her into the dealerhip and have them fix whatever it is (under warranty of course.) obviously don't mention the manhole... or anything that might void the warranty. speaking of which... maybe things have changed but, 4 years ago when I got my msp... i brough it in for anything and everything... including at least a half dozen alignments. I was told that, for the 1st 12k miles... it was all covered.

good luck dude... and be careful with it! that's your baby... and as I know all too well, baby's don't like to be driven over manholes!

Unless he has his VIN number in his siggy, theres no need.

I know... it was an (unsuccessful) attempt at bringing some levity to the situation.

Also.. as far as the whole "VIN Number" redundancy thing goes... everyone says "VIN Number". It's sort of like 'RBIs' in baseball. not technically correct but... generally acceptable by most people.

i just did the EXACT same thing in my 2006 mazda 3! i had a mechanic look at it, it's not the alignment. "my sub-frame is bent and so are my control arms. the car is still driveable but it will be harder to handle and the tires will wear faster"

i'm looking into suing as well. the manhole i hit was in a parking lot. so now i have to track down who the owner is and where do i go from there??

please let me know how you're making out.

PS.. the quote to fix it is $1,578 CAD

I always hate when people say RPMs. Revolutions Per Minutes? FAIL! :)

Damn, If your lucky they will be so slow at the dealer ship they will lie and get it warrantied just to have some work in the shop. Happened with my truck a month ago. Sorry that happened.. and your county should pay for it, thats if you contact them. Include pictures of it and a quote from the dealership.

Don't be a dumbass, don't take it to Mazda yet, and don't drive the car for now, you need to file a complaint with the DOT NOW.

Go take pictures of your car and the man hole, NOW.

They will pay to fix your vehicle and any residual loss of value, due to it being a "repaired" new vehicle.

Don't listen to any of these idiots telling you to take it to Mazda. WTF are you people thinking? Tards.
