Pics of Double Din Mazda5 Avic-D3 Install

Sweet! I want switches! (hump)

Well, 6 months later almost, LOL, I finally got the PAC SW interface installed.

Works good, boy did I miss the steering wheel controls.

As far as the Pioneer D-3 unit, I am very pleased with it, both in function and sound quality. The next upgrade will be replacing the factory speakers.

Ok, limit of 5 files, so I'll have to upload the rest separetely....

You should got to ignited performance and get new switches! They have awesome looking switches and will make your car look more like an airplane. I had them in my Audi with my nitrous set up. nothing better than Led carbon fiber buttons and switches.

That reminds me of one of my cars I had in my teens, LOL.

I wired up a few switches in my old 007 82' 626.

I can't remember what they all did, but I do know I had a switch for cutting all lights but headlights, and another switch was wired up to a spare washer fluid container that would spray a mixture of ATF, and STP gas treatment into the carb for smokescreen! It worked fabulous, but I had to replace the cat. converter from the excessive smoke inhalation. LOL

Mine (as crazy as it looks) are there for a reason. Air horns, yes, I said AIR HORNS...for one, my bass adjustment to the amp, valet switch, and remote starter disable. Too bad i don't have one for NITRO!..haha. Ultimate switches would be chair shockers for the kids in the back...haha...mine are great and don't do that...plus they have DVD screens in the back to occupy themselves....but a switch for a passenger side ejection would be nice!! (that's where the wife sits)

Your install looks good.
I too have ordered the dash plate from speedline.com and hopefully it won't take forever to get here. I plan on installing a pop-up dvd player and my installer says he can keep the steering wheel controls. The face plate comes with the connector to allow the lcd display to keep it's function.

mazdadude, did you have your SWI-PS controls hooked up so that your steering wheel up/down control scans radio channels or skips to your preset stations ? I read somewhere that it can be programmed to skip to presets. I currently have my scanning.

CameraCrew: Could you tell me what the make and model# of the kit are? Does it say anything on the packaging of the kit? I'm trying to figure out the part# and was hoping someone would be able to tell me.. I'm guessing it wasn't actually made by Speedline, instead they are just re-selling a Japanese made product. Can anyone shed some light on this? TIA

Well, I found the same item at a cheaper price here:

But I found it after I ordered from speedline.com, so maybe you can have luck with it.

I wonder if you could help me with this. I want to upgrade my radio for my 5. I must say that the work you have done is really impressive. I already have the factory navigation system. If I change the radio, will it affect the navigation system. Please let me know.

There should be no problems upgrading.

Are you thinking of a radio or a navigation unit>?

Well, since I already have navigation, I saw a clarion dual din with the same functions as your pioneer with the exception of navigation. What site did you purchase tha radio kit from?

I got my kit from speedline, but it looks like you can find it a a few other places now.

What is the model of the clarion unit, I would like to check it out.

The clarion unit model is MAX675VD. I was also considering the Panasonic CQ-VD6505U. They both appear to be pretty decent. The prices are affordable as well. Let me know what you think.

enpelotas? En Pelotas? Does that mean what I think it means? LOL. Ooops, off-topic... :D :D

yeah it means what it means. I got the name after a couple of beer bongs. Like frank the tank. lol!

(2thumbs), quite creative LOL :D. OK OK, off-topic again. Talking about Clarions, I'm not too much into audio but I love the HMI the concept they are promoting...

Problem is, with so many features/toys included, I can get so distracted (ok ok, envy talking here, I'll shosh ).

Is everyone with the D3 still a happy camper? After mulling it over with the wife and thinking about $$$ I might forgo the factory NAV and get the D3 instead. I have found it for under $800 on Crutchfield. Adding XM and a reverse camera would bring it just over $1000 which is 1/2 the price of the factory navigation system. I am a little worried about the increase of theft....but there isn't much I can do about that.

I'm still VERY happy with mine, and wou;dn't trade it for ANY factory nav unit! This one has much more to offer! I have mine with a hidden IPOD cable that connects my IPOD in the gove box. I also have the back up cam, and the bluetooth adapter which connects my cellphone. One of the reasons why I like this car so much is because of this D3 unit. Someday I'll add the XM sat unit as well. I alos have the steering wheel cable connection, so I can control the volume, and tuning for FM, and go thru the songs on the IPOD. This unit is so multifunctional that I don't think there's any other factory unit that comes close, especially for the $$. I've had mine for about 18 months now, and still VERY VERY happy with it! Only wish it came out sooner, and very glad I didn't pay more than double for the factory unit!!
