my vinyl

i dont dislike it and it is way better than most of the other stuff people have been doing (exception to truck nutz of course) but seriously-

Can someone please tell me is this an American thing?
is it some how related to muscle cars or something?

I dont understand the history/reason for this but have seen it before.

I'm not sure on the history but I first started seeing it on european rally cars actually. I can't recall any muscle cars having the off-center stripe.....someone step in here if I'm wrong.

Good job, i did almost the exact same thing to my 3HB. However i stopped at the front of my hood and didnt take the stripe down the back. i also did some GTI type striping on my front grill and small stripes on either side of the 6in. ill post pics to show the specifics but anyways you did a good job and i think it looks really nice.

i think it looks like crap, stripe is too thin and not every car can pull off that look, in my opinion if you had to run a stripe I would make it a bit wider , (maybe senter it , or not), but definitely run 1/4" stripes on each side of the main stripe about 1/4 inch off to each side like the chevrolet ss stripes, if you compare old school mustang stripes w/ chevy ones you will see the dfference, anyways thats just my opinion and u know what they say about opinions......

Lets see....

i am very pleased with the result. i did consider puting the stripe on the small section under the front facia but decided against it. i figured it stops at the black plastic in the rear... do the same in the front. i think it will look even better when i black out the windows and rims.
i wanted something to add a little style to it, it is a boring looking car.
it looks too much like a reg. 3. i like to get some looks, i dont want to go un-noticed. i dont like debadging or anything to hide that i have a MS3 not a MZ3.

I'm with Lenny I think you need some smaller stripes beside the big one. I think cars with these big stripes look cool.

i dont want the fat stripe with the skinny tracer... it too VW !!!
the guy who put it on for me actually said he does a lot of new GTI's that way. it is unique, and i wouldnt do it any other way !!

it looks ok... i dunno whats with u speed 3 guys and doing these funky things to ur cars... ive never seen stuff like this over on the 6 side..but to each thier own, +1 for creativity

if you want to do something original to set apart your speed 3 to the reg 3 then modify the s*** out of it man. ok, not even modify the s*** out of it. read the post in tuning. guy pushes 400 crank hp with CAI, exhaust, engine management system, and water/meth injection. thats maybe like 2000 tops if you buy everything direct from main companies. so far with my CAI, motor mount, tranny fluid, and exhaust ive only paid 1000 roughly.

i think that the vinal makes your car feel like a reg 3 trying to stand out as a speed rather than setting you car apart from it. make it faster, thatll show everyone whos boss. not some sticker that acts as a poser.

oh plan to mod the hell out of it too. i have a few things, but nothing out there interests me now. i also have a custom PG turbo back that is not on the car right now. and i am working with PG and TRZ motorsports to make the BEST DAMN INTERCOLLER EVER for this car right now ! i know all about mods... you are preeching to the choir about that. it is a matter of the RIGHt stuff though. i wont buy the xede or cp-e thing, i dont do piggybacks. other than that i have a cai, tbe, bov, motor mount, and th intercooler is comming soon !
i'm glad to see some of you guys have some taste though.
i just thougt the car was blad. i think i added some personality to it without going crazy.

just my opinion:
that looks terrible.

it reminds me of the offset racing stripe with a thinner racing stripe running parallel along side of it the riceboys used to do in the early 90s. now all you need is to fake the single wiper conversion and you're set!!

i found two real quick on riceboypage as a matter of fact:

civic_hb.jpg

they came from this page:
http://riceboypage.com/shame/hall_of_shame_7/hallofshame7.html

so anyway, please reconsider.. but in the long run, it's your car, do what you please..

Tru-boost, come on mang, show some class. You are from Illinois so represent. These guys are giving you their opinions. Not everyone is going to like it. Simple as that.

again....as i look at it more i begin to see more wrong things with it. imo it doesnt fit the body style of the car at all. the flow of the car is smooth and it has no real sharp edges. you added a giant rectangle. from the headlights that follow the body line to the tails that wrap around to finish it, its a smooth flowing body line. you talk about doing all the performance right....why not spend the money to get a custom vinyl. here....i even made something for you to show you the difference of a nice vinyl job, as opposed to the "classic mustang stripe".

see, now id say that looks a lot better than a giant line down your hood. not that im giving into vinyls because im not a fan really, but better right? it flows with the car. nice and clean.

I,for one, enjoy driving fast. I, personally, love the idea of smokin' peeplz "fast cars" with an "ordinary-looking" car. Problem is, I don't want to be noticed by the Poleece, or bad-reckless-drivers...I just wanna go fast and go un-noticed.
