What have you done to your MSP today?

I think that a wrx is the way to go over the sti. My friend has an 02 wrx with a few bolt ons and a cobb reflash. He pulls on stis like no ones business and he definitely under the cost of an sti. Sometimes I wish I could have found an 02 wrx when I was looking for a car. Those are the best models in my opinion.

sti is a completely different car. throw a few bolt ons and a cobb reflash on an sti and see who wins. my dad got his for 23k at 29k miles about a year and a half ago. other than one dent on a door the body is flawless so this wasnt some beaten car that was sold cheap.

wrx trannies are crap. and dont think the engine is the main difference. wrx's handle nothing like an sti.

I'm aware of those things. I would much rather have an sti over a wrx if it was given to me. You can find used 02 wrxs for like 12k, maybe even less. If I was going to buy a car I would rather go that route because I don't make that much money to be dropping on a car. So.... cheaper and still have money to tune FTW!

looked at my msp again as i left for work in the sti...again(lol2) dont worry im not losing interest in the msp or anything. one of my coworkers wanted a ride in it but we didnt have the chance after work yesterday so i took it to work again today. needless to say hes changed his mind from getting a tacoma to seriously thinking about a wrx. he has about 18k to spend, what do ya think? im certain sure he could find a pretty good 04-05 or a really low mileage bug eye'd for that price.

He could pick up a new wrx for a little more change.. OR, he could search around and find an 04 STi with some mileage on it for ~ that price..

Installed a Greddy TT and Innovate LC-1 Wideband with DB guage. It would have been an easy install but the previous owner had the ignition wiring and a bunch of other wires under the dash all twisted together and taped so I had to clean up everything first. Everything is installed and running properly though, just need to fabricate a gauge, TT, and EBC DIN mount and it will be finished!

For 18K you can have your pick of the litter of used WRXs.

And also some sti's but probably higher miles than wanted.

higher miles and most likely not the best condition. for 18k you could get an 02-03 with enough mods to be faster than an sti and possbily some suspension work to have it hang right there with an sti.

I'd stay away from 02's they have weak tranny's unless they do an sti swap.

nice I have the LC-1 and DB as well. I haven't wired it in, but I have it ready to go this week, I spent last week (well one evening that I had available) wiring in my new boost gauge. Pics when I am finnished, and I'd like to see your DIN mount when done.

question, did you wire the 02 ready LED in or use your alarm LED? I was planning on using the alarm LED or wiring it into the Check engine light.

I de-rusted and painted my rotors flat black. Looking much better behind the wheels now!! Oh yeah, I took the opportunity to lube the front end. No more squeak squeak!!

Here are some before and after pics.
