Well with the heat the way it has been here in delaware in the mid 90's with 75% humidity i decided to pull my car into my shop and check the a/c systems charge...i thought that it wasnt blowing that cold so i recoverd the system and did a leak test and ran a vaccum threw the system all is well right? Wrong i found that i only recoverd about 3/4 of a lb of freon when the car should have had 1.1lb. so i recharged it to the proper spec with no leaks in the system and now i must say this bad boy gets nipply now boys all i can say is bring the heat...just thought i would share...

its an 04 mz3 s 2.3l n/a... i know that i feels so much better in the car now the ac doesnt cycle on and off now like it was..

My 3 had the same problem a few years ago. They measured the freon and filled it up. I had a good mechanic back then, now I don't. Still, my A/C can't handle 90F temps, not even 80F unless I have it cranked to 3. Even then it cycles every 15 -20 seconds.

I would have it checked again i would also have them check or run a leak test sometimes the shrader valve will stick and allow for a small leak so over time the freon gets low and the it wont cool as well...just my 2 cents worth..

They already did that, even added a die if there was a leak (so they tell me). There was, maybe still is, a huge A/C thread in another Mazda forum how the majority of 2004-early 2006's are plagued with bad running A/C's. Just by some chance, only a select few elsewhere in the country aren't affected. A mod was even created to keep the compressor running longer. The problem has to a large degree been fixed in those 3's with auto climate control and in mid 2006+ M3's.

Well ,just maybe we are among the few that have the unlucky a/c...i mean i cant comlain to much it is better than what it was but i had a 95 pontiac grand prix and the a/c kicked ace in that thing...and it had over hundred thousand mi. on it..but yea it deff is better than what it was i guess i just have to make due it is what it is....

There is something to be said about North American cars and their A/Cs. When in Vegas I wouldn't consider renting an import, it has to be an American or the A/C just sucks....which is quite bizzare since in Asia the temps are just as high if not higher than in the USA. Then again, the temps in Arizona and Vegas in summer are crazy hot.

That being said, I have a 2007 Mazda3 loaner tonight and the A/C is not any better than mine. The temp is around 73F tonite but I had it on the highway so not to smell the car exhaust. I do suspect the A/C is faulty in that 2007 loaner since it should be better than mine.
