Sat input on 2007 3S for XM

(shrug) I have a new 2007 3S with the 6 CD changer and Sat button. Does anyone know if the AXXESS ipod interface that comes with an optional XM version works when plugged into the satellite input jack? The AXXESS info for earlier model years says unit preserves the Sirius HU display function.

The XM module for the AXXESS interface plugs into the AXXESS module, which then plugs into the TAPE/MD slot on the bottom of the HU. The port on the back of the HU used for the OEM sirius is left empty.

With the AXXESS installed you'll get to the XM by pushing the MEDIA button. Actually some people said it sometimes works better to hit FM/AM, and then MEDIA to switch modes without any problems.

Hope that answers your question. I think there's some questions about whether the AXXESS module works on 2007 models, or more specifically Clarion HU's. I believe they're working on the problem.

Thanks a lot for the reply. This is a great car and the only thing I would change is getting my xm and ipod integrated into the HU so I don't have all these wires hanging out. I think my HU may be a Sanyo since 6 CD units in 06 were made by them. The Mazda switchbox you have to add to be able to use the AUX both the plug and sirius adds more cost so it may just be easier to start over with an aftermarket HU.

Hey, I've decided to go with the Axxess adapter but when I contacted the vendor they said that it would not work with the Clarion manufactured HU. What's another option?

That's correct, the AXXESS module currently does not work with the Clarion HU in some Mz3's (mostly 2007s iirc). They're the only ones offering XM connectivity right now so if you want XM specifically then you'll have to go with either a standalone running in through an aux. input, or replace the HU with a XM ready unit.

Has anyone used the Peripheral Mazasx auxillary interface on a 2007 HU? The maker's application chart says it will work with 07s.

I haven't heard anyone using the peripherals with the '07 yet. Here's the question though. If you're planning on using the peripherals unit with the '07 then you're obviously planning on using an aftermarket XM unit and plugging the audio out into that. If you're going to do that then why don't you just use the ACI in the armrest and input the audio that way? It would save you money even with having to buy a ground loop isolator for it.

I was hoping the Peripheral would allow text display from a direct connect xm box on the factory screen like the AXXESS does.

All the peripherals provides for you are RCA inputs, or input for an aftermarket CD changer.

Thanks. I've also been looking at a Terk smart XM adapter for Clarion radios. I wonder if that would work if I could figure out a way to get the adapter output converted to the 16 pin cd changer port on the Mazda HU.

Axxess

Has anyone used that AXXESS system on a 2007 Mazdaspeed3 with the Bose system? I am buying a MS3 GT soon and am desperate to find the best iPod integration for it. Something that I can use with the steering wheel buttons and show the text on the LCD screen.

On the other hand, there's the OEM IPOD INTEGRATION MODULE AND the switching box that is needed if you also have Sirius which I want. This totals for $300 for both but I would shell it out if it's the best setup. Does anyone have THIS setup? Switching box AND the module? This setup is below:

If the stereo in your (soon to be) 2007 MS3 is a clarion model then the AXXESS module won't work. If it's not then it will. Incidentally the AXXESS is the only module which displays anything on the LCD.... even the OEM one doesn't.

Also to clarify the switchbox. It will allow you to plug in the ACI (3.5mm console input) and either the ipod adapter or sirius, not both. One of the inputs on the box only works with the ACI.

Thanks for the reply icspots....I am actually waiting for the 2008. The axxess product does'nt even seem to be available anymore on their ebay store. The clarification on the switchbox is helpful.

sirius question

I have a new 2008 MS3 GT with the Bose 6 CD changer with a Sat. button. I know of other vehicles that use XM, all you have to do is to call them up with your unique reciver number and your in business. Now! does this system in my MS3 need another part since nothing happens when I push the Sat. button and there are no instructions in my owners manuel and no number? It goes to show you that you really need to understand what comes with the car. My sales person told me it was Sirius ready. He must have meant with the extra part....LOL.

Thanks for the help and the answers.

Doc.

You need to buy a receiver box, and by the way, it is Sirius, not XM. And, it will disable the jack in the center console unless you also buy a switch box.
