ebay crossed drilled slotted rotors

i'd wait to do them all at once... no point in doing the work twice

yea, im going to paint and put the new rotors on, then in a week or 2, buy new brake pads and brake fluid, then im done with the brakes. i gotta get some bills caught up so the protege mod's gotta wait for a while. it sucks

Another ? for everybody? Are Autoparts store's brake pads good enough to replace stock when i put these rotors on? i want to do it all at once now, but i cant wait for shipping on a internet pair? I dont race or anything, just need something for day to day driving?

Get some Bendix Organic pads from advance auto parts, Part Number: D893. I used them before on my rx7.

got the front all done, squels a lil, i think they just need to break in, but the rear was being a pain in the A, because when you take the caliper off, and take the pads out, that lil O part is out, and need to go back in to put the new pads on so they fit over the rotor, well we couldent get the driver side in so we called it a night and will work on it again within the next day or so. otherwise the front looks badass, i didnt paint the calipers, got too lazy

Thiers a allan screw on the back that you need to adjust to get the piston to go back in! I belive its under a boot. This is becuase of the E-brake.

what if i disconnected the e-brake? which i did, or is that allen screw need to be released still? My dad and i are going to try to finish it tomorrow so we will figure it out, otherwise im happy with the front, minus the squel and the smell??? is that just cause everything is new?

If you release the brake via cable I dont think you would need to adjust the screw. However have fun getting that thing back on. I've never done it like that but from what i understand its a pita to get back on.

Going to paint the calipers black, I presume?

Could you post pics when it's done? I'm buying wheels hopefully this week, and I was also thinking about doing the black powdercoated rotors and painting the calipers black... so pretty similar to your setup, except I'm rocking Sunlight Silver, not white.

But yeah... pics would be sweet, if you've got the time.

im not painting the calipers, got too lazy, i might someday, but for now i just want my new rotors, it looks good enough with just new rotors.

yea, i just started working on it again today and im not seeing a allen screw on the rear? I guess i will look more, but im not seeing it.

hey guys, got the rotors installed!! I love them, decided not to paint calipers because i was just getting lazy, after 2 days of getting the broken lug off and 2 days on the rotors (im a rookie so dont hate) i just didnt feel like painting the calipers, one day ill get bored and ill do it, plus my twm short shifter came in the mail so i want to work on that now. anyways i got a ? for everybody, how come after installing the rotors, washing the car, driving about 7 miles to my apt the rotors have rust on them?

where on the rotor is the rust? if you didnt leave the guy feedback yet i'd put something in it about them rusting so everyone else knows.

every rotor rust man... you can't stop it unless you never drive your car. Unless your talking about the area around the hub and the tops edges of the rotor.

basically it'll rust no matter what. drive a few miles, and use the brakes, and the part that the pad touches should be rust free for at least a while. the washing is what caused the immediate rusting, most likely.

you're not talking about the powdercoated part are you?

no, im talking about where the pad hits? i think it was just leaking from washing the car, its not the powdercoated part, its actual stopping part? im sure it will go away

it has to be from washing the car, its probably just leaking rusty water from somewhere, lol the rotors are 6 hours old, they cant rust that fast.

Nah.. it'll be fine. It's just that air and water = rust. Not a thick, hard to deal with rust... just a thin little layer that'll disappear after you get on the breaks a bit. The rust will come back, but it'll also always go away.

thats what i like to hear, otherwise im in love with the new set-up, the ebay rotors ROCK. i just bought Napa brand pads to replace stock, i bought the best they had for the front which were $45 and the cheap 1's for the rear for $17. The stopping is great now, ill post some pics in a min!!
