Cracked CF Hood

hey blue wolf, i sell car paint, and i have this clear that is the same thing as professional body shops use but in a can, and should be great for what you are doing and will get a great shine and superior protection.

Sweet mickey. What are your prices and how big are the cans? Or if you have a website that'll prob be easier

So I've begun painting and it's not turning out as well as i'd hoped. I've only done a stock hood that I'm using for winter. I just finished the base coat. When using the can, I'm finding it difficult to make light coats with out leaving a bunch of spots. Am I supposed to do it slower? After my second coat, I can still see gray primer spots all over...it might be the lighting in my garage because its midnight, but what am I doing wrong? I just used a whole damn can on the stock hood!

if you are doing light coats you are going to have to put a lot on it, i put 3-5 medium coats on mine and you can see one putty spot i forgot to prime, but only at certain angles.

Yeh on the cf hood I've put quite a few coats now, but there are still faint lines going across the hood from the spray. I don't know what to do...it looks much better than the stock hood i painted yesterday but still doesn't look quite perfect. And now I ALREADY sanded my damn front and rear bumpers...I've dug a deeeeepp hole...

Dude Honestly your best bet is just to take it to a body shop and have the stuff painted... If your using any kinda spray can Base and primer 9 times out of 10 it wont match because of different variance of colors... yeah you might say have a midnight blue mica protege but it doesnt mean your color will match perfectly to your friends it could be lighter, or darker, more metallic, or bluer or whatever... besides any kinda can spray paint is gonna be hard to paint without leaving streaks or candy cane type stripes.... and to answer your q about the mazdaspeed thing... I personally would wet sand the hood down with 600 grit sand paper let it dry, You dont have to primer the whole hood just a the area your laying filler on and about 3 inches out, make sure you sand the primer with 600..., lay out your stencil or whatever, paint the hood... let the paint flash (meaning pretty much dry where all the shines gone) pull off the sticker and clear the hood... and CRASHKELLY... If I were you Id sand the hood down with 600, wash the hood with dish detergent to degrease it, and clear the whole hood... it should bring it back out... thats all thats on those hoods anyhow...
