ebay crossed drilled slotted rotors

r1, have you ever heard or seen drilled discs crack? if so, is there a way to keep them from cracking?

Drilled rotors are more prone to crack and yes this a fact even if they are chamfered in. Now if you are tracking your vehicle I would definately use slotted only. Now for daily street driving, Drill rotors are fine. You will not put enough stress on it to crack. The drills are mainly for a better heat dissapation, to help with premature warping of the rotors.

i dont take my car to the track, but i have been known to drive pretty hard. I strongly doubt it will happen again cause it was very stupid on my part, but i once had to go from 210km/h to like 40 cause of construction on the highway and thats what practically melted my brakes . I have deep scratches in the discs and when they get hot, they barely work. Thats why i was looking into these.

Are Hawk pads available everywhere (like canadian tire, wal mart places like that ) or do u have to order them... i dont think ive seen them anywhere.

Some autosports may have them. But the Internet is probably the easiest way to get them.
 
well checked my ups tracking and my rotors will be here friday, wish they would be here sooner, but i guess it doesnt matter since i have to work and i wont have time to do the install until sunday, and i gotta get my bad lug off first which is going to suck. anyways ill keep everybody updated on progress and ill have pics when done.
 
Well Im changing my rotors because the stock ones are bad, So 1 they will look nice, and 2 they should be at least better than stock.
 
i dont think they will wear them out any fast then stock, they should be better then stock or some kind of improvment, im getting them because mine look like crap and im sure need replacing someday anyways, stock pads will work with them, but id upgrade just to get it all done at once, and the install should not be that hard, just depends on your level of confidence.
 
There are super debates on that topic. some say yes some say no...... I got the same one from the link off ebay, posted here. I spoke to a guy from Rx7club.com and he has them on his rx7, he had them for 8 months and loves them. So for $138 for xcrossed/slotted rotors is not bad if they are good.
 
Install is simple, but the slotted rotor will eat up your pads quicker. It's kinda like gliding a piece of cheese over a grater. Increased resistance, but the pads will get shredded by the rotors. That's not really to scare you, but just to let you know that you will be replacing pads about twice as often.
 
I have c/s brembo/hawk setup on front & back from ebay. No ABS. Got over 60k on pads & rotors & still have 1/4 of pads left. Mayyybe barely a little more dusting than oem but not enough to matter. Much better brake action, especially with goodridge ss lines. These haven't been babied whatsoever & have been completely noise & fault free. What else could be better? Other than free.
 
i remember reading somewhere that slotted/drilled rotors lower pad life by about 10% (so if you get 50,000km on it normally, u'd get 45,000 with these)

not that big of a difference to me, especially if it improves ur braking. i think in the same article it said something like if ur going 100km/h u'd stop 3 meters sooner or something like that... but whatever.

im def gonna get me a set

** i just ordered a set drilled/slotted in black! with shipping to toronto it came to $170 and with the current exchange rate it cost me $177cdn which is still pretty good. im so excited now**
