In the compressor section, the fact that intake air temperature of the turbo engine which reaches to the 130℃~190℃ is reduced is function of the intercooler with influence of the exhaust. Cooling the air where oxygen density decreases with high temperature if it makes dense, it is the mechanism which power and torque increase. However, when it tries probably to cool random, this time resistance increases, the accelerator response decreases with pressure loss. The fact that it becomes the technical key is method of taking the balance.
As for the intercooler which is loaded onto the DISI turbo engine, the alias placing on top mount where pipe layout is superior shortly in the response. But, in order to be located to the engine upper part, regarding cooling characteristic a little it is disadvantageous structure.


The sport intercooler of new development expands mass production layout to the core thick limit that way and raising capacity. Adopting the corrugated type which expands the surface area to the outer fin which has the role which cools the intercooler by the fact that the travelling wind is applied.



Arranging the offset fin where the heat dissipation effect is high inside the inner tube which is the passage of the air which on the one hand, was supercharged. The weak point of the placing on top mount is overcome.
Furthermore, for the sharp response, making use of the bulk inner tube which expands the passage area, taper processing the air inlet. Approximately 60% inhalation air transmissivity is improved at genuine products ratio, pressure loss has been decreased.
You improve response which stepped on the result and the accelerator from the instantaneous, installed capacity 12.3~14.3ps *, 1.5~2.8kg-m * achieving improvement by largest torque. Including the hand completely volt/bolt on installing is possible in the engine itself.

Was pressurized by [tabochiyajiya] the hot air, the intercooler inside surge tank -> the inner tube (the offset fin) -> the surge tank -> to be cooled by the order, exit, it becomes the dense air. (As for details of each part, please refer to description below)

While making turbulence the louver cause which formed threely-dimensional on the fin surface, stirring the air around it makes the cooling effect increase by the fact that it makes pass. In addition to being restriction in travelling airflow, it is the form which is optimum to position system.

I think all Autoexe pieces are nice. This one is especially nice because it's an ARC product. and yeah, a low profile hood scoop would do wonders for that TMIC.

I think how mazda route air to the intercooler works fine, its just like a hood scoop under the hood... however.. that air has to go somewhere, and the set up on the ms6 has no room for it to vent out or go further away from the intercooler

Seriously, without any form of a high-pressure area hoodscoop, there isn't really a point in upgrading the stock TMIC. Either go front-mount, or get a hood with a (insulated) hood scoop over the intercooler. I don't care WHAT kind of "hood scoop under the hood" Mazda has come up with, the fact is that the path of least resistance will mostly be AROUND the intercooler, and a vast majority of the air will be bypassing it.

Also, in low-speed driving, idle, etc., this setup is really bad. The heat will be rising to, you guessed it, the intercooler! Not to mention, this "hood scoop under the hood" will not be functioning...*at all* under around 30-40mph. Before that, there is not enough pressure at the nose of the car to benefit the intercooler..at all. A hood scoop would work wonders here, as there would always be a fresh supply of air right above the intercooler, so it wouldn't heat soak *as bad*, but it still would a lot.

Front mount or go home! :-O

Also i think a hood scoop would be less efficiant then the front vents that direct right onto the FMIC, a hood scoop you would loose most of your force and would have to have a dip and a taller lip to even catch any air

The vent in grill design works well to blow a good amount of air into the hood ducting system

So, your scientific opinion is that the the large duct opening at the high pressure area at the top of the grille is inferior to ANY scoop on the hood? My understanding is that you have to go up pretty high, like the birdcatcher on the STi, to get high pressure air in the middle of the hood. Also, what do you mean by the path of least resistance? The under hood ducts are attached by a sealed opening to the top of the TMIC. Where else will the air go but through the TMIC? Lastly, how would a hood scoop draw any more air at under "30-40 mph" than the duct opening at the front of the grille? Sure FMICs are gonna cool better, but knowledgeable tuners (Cobb) have said that even the stock TMIC does a good job of cooling and they won't be offering an IC among their offered aftermarket mods.

A more efficient TMIC has already shown very good results with the MS6, especially with avoiding heatsoak. And from what I've seen, FMICs look like a major PITA and a hood scoop would like crap. I have seen a vented hood on a modified show car (MS6) that did look very cool. That I might be interested in way down the road.

Or how about all 3? New tmic, New Cf hood w/hoodscoop , AND the stock front scoops, or would that lose any velocity either of the scoops would create? Personally I want a new hood anyways, stock ways a TON compared to my eclipses Cf hood.......but it dosent have ducts in it

I was thinking an even smaller one, Perhaps almost level with the hood. just a welll done slightly raised cut out
 
For anybody that cares... the claims for gains on this TMIC are 14.1 hp and 20.24 torque gains after the metric conversions.

Id never seen a dyno or these numbers posted before.

Probably the same as the ETS... give or take.
