The 08-09s are growing on me though (what can I say anyway, LOL), but as I said long time ago, Mazda needs some overall help on taillight design IMO (any model)...

I think its the way the LEDs are placed in a long strip. Looks like jewelry.

The 06-07's is a 'His' Car

While the 08's - 09's is a 'Her' Car.

I have to say that at first I was with all of you, the '06-07 lights were much, much better. But I too am starting to like design of the '08. One thing is for sure, the '08/'09 lights look WAY better at night. I followed my wife home the other night (I was in my mother-in-law's car) and just loved the look of the two vertical lines with the brake light in the middle.

06-07's are better than the 08 sports, but I like the LEDs of the touring/grand touring better than the old altezza style.

I have an '08 Sport - but really liked the '06-'07 tail lights much, much more. To me they really had style - style that matched the car well.

The '08's look to me like they decided to save some cash and simplify the design. Fortunately I really like the design of the car as a whole - and the rest of it is good enough to stand on it's own without the cool (previous) tail lights.

GreenTea's Blackout old-style lights, modded with LEDs and switched turn signal and reverse. Why didn't you make these Mazda?

I actually prefer the old design, too. But, I'm glad my new one has LED's!

When I read that the '08's and after would include LED taillights, I thought they might be small circles that would fit into the "holes" of the then-existing housing.

I prefer the new LED design. I parked next to one with the old design and was disgusted at the fact they looked exactly like aftermarket altezzas.

I've seen the 20Z tails on the internet, but not in person so I can't give a true opinion. I've even seen the old style retrofitted with LEDs. They're doing it all the time in Japan. They look alright, but I don't know. I still prefer the newer style.
