Wish me Luck.. Car going into Dealership for Gear oil leak again

:
Mazdaspeed 6 GT
Went to the dealer because I was smelling gear oil again. last time it was the Prop shaft seal. The dealer said could I leave it because its gonna take awhile to fix it. I told em I would drop it off later. As in wednesday of this week.

Im guessing its leaking at the same place. Im also betting that its gonna need a new transfer case if thats the problem or for them to re-seal it.

Oh well Looks like im gonna be without m baby for awhile

Mileage on my car currently 35,100

mine's going back tomorrow for them to look at the intake manifold runner stuck closed CEL some more...

i hate hearing bout both yalls issues, and only at 35k miles kusanagi?!
Good luck! i hope they can fix it without issue or charge!

yikes, im just over 55k now, no issues. :) *knocks on wood*
this year will see more modding, so uh, lets all hope i keep that luck haha.

Dude it was leaking at 19,000 and they replaced the prop shaft and seal over 1,500 dealer covered.

Since they did that work and its been less than a year im guessing its still warrantied and they will fix it again. It better be warrantied the part is defective. I dont bash on my car at all. Even my mom says I drive like a Grandma

well in that case, if it's a REPEATED leak on a previous repair... i hate to say it, but id call their work into question.

i did in fact have a rear diff leak a few months back, may recall me mentioning it. (i didnt consider it a major dmg repair)
did the repair with a friend ourselves, simple axle seal replacement, not insanely hard, but took some effort.
Never leaked again. *tooting own horn* lol. We took our time, replaced with new fluid, triple checked to make sure axle was reseated properly and voila.

best of luck!! id say mine is luckily doing quite well considering i drive hard maybe 25% of the time, moderate 25% of the time, grandma it 50% of the time.
cheers

Well the first thing they said is my car is out of warranty.. And they lifted it up Took me calling them 7 hours later they never called me and they said oh it looks like its not leaking from the Prop shaft seal we fixed its leaking from somewhere else and we dont know where. Your gonna have to leave the car with US. Which is fine I figures I would have to leave it there.

But if it turns out alot of money im pretty much just gonna get rid of the car and take a small hit. I think I owe 13 something on it. So will I guess trade it in on something else if the repairs are too much. Im guessing a Mazdaspeed 3 possibly since some of the parts will go over. If not then I will sell the parts off mine. Including the parts I have not yet installed or get yet in the mail.

We will see dont want to jump to conclusions yet as of they have not told me exactly whats going down because they have not sourced the leak yet. But im not gonna spend 3-5g to fix it.. Not worth it to me for another chance it could leak again.

Might have to go back to Honda or get a WRX/Audi A4 maybe :(.. My Girl drives a 2005 A4 S-line quattro tiptronic and the only problems she had was also a prop shaft leak.. fixed for 400 and bushings on the steering rack 700.. And A small coolant leak fixed. My WRX the 2004 has had its timing belt done that was about it as far as repair and a bad swaybar link. Nothing else

Turned out to be my driver side axle seal that was leaking.. And it was a super super slow leak.

247 bucks to fix it. Gonna pick it up tommorrow and drop it back off on wednesday when the part comes in.

Not so bad then:)

I know... They had my car for like 3 days I figured it was bad.. They just wanted to be sure where the leak was from before they started changing things. I honestly thought I would not get out of there under a G but 247 bucks wow I feel a breath of relief

Glad to hear you can keep the car, i would 100% understand if a few Gs for repairs would make you wanna get rid of it, you havent had the best luck. luckily mine has been about as bulletproof as ur ur 04 wrx was. Cept i spend $10 for my axle seal repair, as opposed to $247. :O

Was it front or rear? mine was rear, super ez install, $10 part. ($20 total comes in pack of 2).
Not sure if you have the space, tools or know-how, but it was a HUGE money saver, and i learned a lot doing it. :)
mebe nxt time eh? :) (kinda weird it took em more than 1 day to id the leak... it took me 10 min to lift car, look under and see the leak. lolz
