Wiper Linkage Problem

My 1997 Protege wiper linkage constantly falls apart. It is a press-fit connection. Is there any solution other than replacing the whole assembly? I'm thinking of drilling through and putting some kind of pin in there.

I'll resurrect this old post of mine just for an update. Rock Auto sells the complete wiper linkage for the '97 Protg. Best $44.00 I've spent. Part was shipped from Canada PERFECT FIT Part # WLPR95 . Linkage was put together backwards so I had to up-press the press on nut but other than the frustration, it's working great.
