this isnt my car but just a pic i found here on the boards. It kinda shows where im talking about with the arrow. i put some oil between that rubber boot thing and the hub itself. what ever is metal inside that rubber boot is what is rubbing on the hub behind that dust shield
The rubber boot is the drive shaft dude. you might of lost the clamp that holds the boot in place?? It is supose to be inserted into the hub, but if it was not you would know!
took it back to the shop. turns out i need a new right side axle. while the car was up on the lift, the mechanic was showing me the play that the axle had compared to the stiff left side axle. the right side was moving all around
the loose bearing ball spinning around noise is gone. will be getting an alignment this weekend and ill be able to see what noises are left besides the pad dragging.
I just bought a new front wheel bearing for mine today. It was $59.13 for that sucker. Another stealership quoted me $51 for the other one. I will be going to that other stealership from now on, and getting the 2nd one tomorrow.
I think my problem started when I found that my axle nut had backed off. I replaced it, but the noise was still there. This lead me to believe that the bearing needs to be replaced. The nut had just desentegrated. When the instructions tell you not to re-use the axle nut, follow them. They get brittle.
When I am in second gear and just pushing the gas and letting it rev to about 6.7 RPM. I can feel my drivers side start like vibrating and i can hear it... only when I am in second gear and starting to go fast this happens. I have a bunch of those poppers missing to hold on those splash shields, do you think its those being loose or the bearing?
