What To Go For? Speakers? Sub and Amp? or nothing..

I just bought Alpine 7894 for my 2002 Protege5, and I don't know why ...but the bass is just weird... so..I'm thinking to add an sub to my car....But if I get the sub, I will need an amp to power it right? So...would that be better for me to change all the speakers too cause I can then get a better amp and not to blow up my factory speckers......

Money is always the problem...I guess if I add a sub, an amp, four speckers, and all those wires, power kit things and installation fee.....the total will be close to 1000...then..I don't wanna spend that much money cause I've already spent 400 on the Alpine 7894 CD receiver.

If I could install the amp, speckers and the sub by myself, I think the cost would be lower..but I don't have any experience on car audio, no soilding and drilling holes experience.....I don't know the way the wires run...and of couse I don't know how to hide all those wires....Big Problem!!!! I know that there is a page that has pictures showing Protege5 Users how to install speackers and amp http://www.astolfo.com/p5/p5install.asp, I think I kinda get how to install the speakers...but it doesn't show how to install an amp and sub.....

Thing is...should I still consider to add all those things...or just some of them...like just the sub ..... If you guys suggest me to add a sub..then I might need a amp..right? So..What kinda amp do I need...consider that I already have a Alpine 7894 which has an internal amp (27 RMS X 4 ..I think...)....Will the add-on amplifier improve a lot of the sound quaility? ...How about the speakers....

Or Should I just stick with the Alpine 7984?

My Budget is around....500...What should I do?

Thanks guys...this is a long post.....thanks for reading it.. ^_^

You have several options that may work for you. The stock speakers can be retained if your not planning on amping them with over 30 watts rms apeice. A head unit doesn't come close to this power do With theradio your fine.

The stock speakers will benifit the most from a high pass crossover that blocks out bass that will only distort them. The lack of one is most likely you largest problem. Bass blockers can help but an amp with built in crossover is the best choice.

The amp I always reccomend for low budget and easy upgrade purposes is the alpine V-power series. The 5 channel version will run $250 and the 4 channel will be $200. You can use either. If you want to amp all speaker with crossovers then the 5 channel is the best. For the P5 I'd reccomend the 5 channel becuase it will give you a crossover on the rear speakers. A single 8" or 10" ub will do fine to suplement the bass in your car even with stock speakers. You could just get a sub amp but this wouldn't protect your speakers from low bass. Also with a sub, speaker distortion is drowned out and more damage can accure to speakers since you can't hear them distorting.

My advised system and break down. these are all retail prices as I never advise buying new equipment any other way.

Alpine MRP-F320 5 channel amplifier $250
JL Audio CS110R-W0 $180
8 Guage Amplifier wiring kit $30
2 5 meter RCA's $40
100 ft speaker wire $20

$520 total
install should only be $75 at most so your under $600 with all speakers amped and a sub.

The down side of the 5 cannel alpine vpower is you can't utalize your sub output of your radio, but It s not completely needed.
There are other 5 channels out there so don't feel you need to stick to just what Ilisted. The only things to stay away from are the bazooka tubes. they are garbage and the powered ones are worse.
