Went to the track...

Went to the local 1/4 mile track Wednesday. Had a somewhat disappointing outcome.

1st run, launched real easy:
60' - 2.57
1/8 - 10.08
MPH - 73.42
1/4 - 15.40
MPH - 90.83

2nd run, launched harder, had wheel hop yet pulled a better 60':
60' - 2.37
1/8 - 9.93
MPH - 72.16
1/4 - 15.32
MPH - 90.75

It was my first time launching the car (haven't even tried on the street). But I'm not concerned with the ET, what I'm most disappointed with is the MPH. I was running ~10psi with the Joe P MBC, and a cone filter. Boost does not drop much by redline. I think it's the hesitation that is killing it. It was about 85 degrees out.

What's up with that? 90mph? (scratch) It's supposed to trap higher than that stock. And the difference from stock to 10psi was like night and day in my car. Maybe it was the track... a 97 Viper GTS in the lane next to me ran a 14.1 @ 102.2mph. :p Those are supposed to do low 12s @ 119mph.

Ah well. I will be going back to the track after my 3" turbo-back exhaust is finished, along with a new short intake & Joe's FPR mod.

Yes sir-ee.

thats what I am afraid Im going to do... its all in the launch....
You got that right Skippy.
I went to West Texas with my Vericom and the best 0-60 I could do was high 5's to low 6's with a SHITLOAD of wheel spin and MASSIVE Dolly Pardon tit sized wheel hop.
I could strap some tap shoes on this thing and have the first car to dance on Broadway. At 12 PSI 1st gear is a guaranteed tire / motor mount destroyer.
From a roll though spinhook..whoosh.
I will run it again on a better road this one was flat and deserted but the traction was miserable.

lower your 60' times and you'll see a big improvement. and you're right, the hesitation IS killing you.

Not bad times really, the 60's are killing you thought. With the LSD, and slipping the clutch, you should be able to launch in boost, get minimal wheelspin, and end up way higher.
Remember, shifting helps too, you want to stay in your powerband... SO go out and drive your car spirited, learn your powerband, and shift there. I know driving my friends celica at the track, i was getting 11's shifting after redline, shifted before redline in 1st, and went 10.49 at 68.47 in the 1/8th.
Not bad for a stock 00 celica gt.

They are bad, considering Joe P. did a 14.1 @ 100mph with a 2.6 60 foot. His only other mods than me were a gutted cat & FPR mod.

Not so...

He had a full 3'' exhaust with no cats and 11PSI :D

Hmmm strange

I did 15.1 @ 97MPH with 2.58 in the 60ft

You did only 18MPH from the 1/8 to the 1/4 which means you are leaning or running too rich.

N/A i was doing constantly 15MPH from th 1/8 to 1/4, now with the turbo at 6.5psi I was doing 25MPH

2.6 60fts in a fwd with LSD? Stock tires?
I ran low 2.4s in the celica with some really crappy tires, slipping the clutch from 3500.
Friends 01 integra type r consistantly ran 2.2 60fts, and 1/8mile at 9.3@78.

The only local track we have is 1/8th.. but theres 3 or 4 1/4 mile tracks within a 1.5-2 hour drive, in cinci, bowling green, and indianapolis.

What other times have people been running? What mods?

Hi go read my post went to the track today i run 10 psi i went 9.62 and it wheel hopped and spun very hard in 1st and 2nd and i still had a 2.32 60" and a 330' foot time of 6.433 i went 75.33 mph in 1/8th mile. and it was about 85 that day i ran 3 straight times no cool off too
