Washing The Wheels Of The Msp 2003.5

just make sure you dont use a crud infested towel/sponge. make sure its clean. a soft sponge would be your best bet (not a dishwashing one) i use meguiar's wheel cleaner and then scrub down the really hard stuff with 1 of my 2 wash mits

don't use anything rough. Only the smoothest softest material. A sponge is a NO NO. Don't believe me, you'll find out shortly when you get little fine scatches in them.

I use a seperate mit, and I drown in in water before touching the rim each time. I will use like a bucket of water just on the wheels because I keep the mit soaked o much.

Then just spray off and let dry. Spray them good. I find the mirror like finish on these hard to keep water spots off, so once their just about dry I'll wipe them with a waxing cloth I use (just a soft polishing cloth) to shine em up.

Or, I live next to a highway so I can just wash her, and drive it for a few minutes at about 100 or so and she dries real quick :) Then there's no water spots at all.

Meguiar's

I use Meguiar's Hot Rims /Cool Care All Wheel Cleaner. Safe for all wheels. I spray it on - let it sit for 30 seconds and I use a sponge, that I keep just for my wheels. Then; I rinse well with water

I use the same stuff as AGR, I like it, seems to clean em nice and good.

edit: post 200, yay me!

just say no to brushes!!!! i dont ever let ANY kind of brush touch any part of my car's exterior. EVER!!! can you say swirl mark hell?? i dont care how "gentle" or "delicate" or "safe" they say they are. I dont trust 'em! but thats just me. i use the cotton mits they make for car washing, a bucket, meguiar's car wash soup and good old fashioned elbow grease. works for me. you might want a pad or something to kneel on though. or maybe a stool.

Hey if u dont clean them for a while they dont look chrome anymore like they do when they are clean. I had a fellow msp owner ask me how i got my rims in gunmetal..hahaha he was so oblivious. I washed my rims right after that.

Another brand-new MSP owner here, and I'm so glad to see this thread. It is EXACTLY what I was going to ask!

There is no reason you should ever need a brush on your wheels. A sponge is fine, with a good wheel cleaner like Meguiar's.

Just don't think for a minute, you can spray it on and just rinse it off. That is the biggest misconception about wheel cleaners there ever was.

Remember that red-neck commercial??!! (chair)

Thanks AGR for the welcome! Am really, really enjoying the car (obviously). When not driving it, I'm reading about it on the web! LOL

I use a soft brush very large head with long loose britsles got it from a detail shop. I use a bucket and hose with each wheel soaking the bush then hosing the brush dunk it back in the soap and then the wheel, of course i sprayed cleaner on the wheel, its a citrus based no acid all wheel cleaner no problem at all
