Vonage Digital Voice

I just signed up for this service, and it is GREAT!

For those that don't know - it enables you to DITCH your phone company, and hook your telephone up to your high-speed (cable, DSL, T1, etc.) phone line. Works EXACTLY like a normal phone.

I don't know about you all, but I was paying over $60 a month for a telephone - that I really didn't use that much. Well, with Vonage, I singed up for 500 minutes per month (this includes ANY domestic long distance, too - no charges for long distance) and it costs a whopping $20 a month! They also have 500 minutes PLUS unlimited regional calling for an extra $10, and TOTALLY unlimited calling for $40 per month. I might upgrade if I go over the 500 minutes - but even overage minutes are only a nickel each. And there is NEVER a long distance charge - EVER!

You can even grab your voicemail online, and in some areas, you can TRANSFER your old phone number, so you don't have to change numbers (I couldn't do that in my area, though). But you can choose ANY available area code you want, and if you move, you take your number and area code with you - even to another state!

Calls to voicemail - FREE (no minutes used); calls to 800 numbers, SAME - calls from VONAGE customer to VONAGE customer - also FREE minutes. This thing rocks - and the sound quality is excellent - some people told me my phone sounds much BETTER than before.

Check it out if you want - www.vonage.com Hey listen - IF you decide to sign up LET ME KNOW PLEASE!!! They have a referral system with big bill credits for getting other people to sign up - for the NEW (YOU!) customer, too! No reason for us not to hook each other up.

Anyway - check it out if you're interested - My savings pays for my cable internet service, which I had anyway!

Any referrals, please PM or email me and we'll set it up.

power outage=no phone calls

NOPE! The service will automatically forward calls to a number of your choosing (I use my cellphone) if internet service or power is interrupted.

And I don't think Vonage is available in Canada yet.

Yeah - plus, I try to keep the REAL numbers (fire, local cops, etc) handy, instead of relying on 911. If you ever need help, you'll get faster service by calling the fire dept or the cops direct rather than using 911.

Strange that you can't dial 911 tho - I wonder why not? Maybe that'll change in the future.

Cool to see another Vonag-er!

there ya go, you need a cell too...
so power outage=no calls

in my province, flat rate per month is just under $20 CAD for unlimited use of the line (local)
